I have one really weird EE hen and I was wondering if all EEs were like this or if it's just her:
She has a tiny appetite (I've heard other EEs can be finicky though) and when the other hens are scratching around looking for bugs she'll just stand or lay around. Sometimes she'll also just kind of stare into space and then after a while seem to realize that the other hens have moved away and flap over to them in a panic

She's much tamer than any of my other hens though, and will just sit calmly in my arms. Also, the other hens have been laying eggs for about a month already and she has yet to lay a single one. She just seems kind of spacey in general

Does this sound familiar or do I just have one weird chicken on my hands?

How funny, I was just talking to my DH and saying the same thing about my EE this morning. She seems very spacey to me also. Almost comically so. When she stops scratching and looks up to move she looks all around her first as if she has to try to remember where she is! She is also super sweet and my most tame girl. Her name is "My Maria". When she lays she always comes running to me to tell me as she is rubbing against my leg, then she follows me to the gate talking quietly to me all the while. She is always the last to get treats when they are brought out because she is the last to notice they are there!

I just love her for all this and I just assumed it was a breed thing and normal, but I really don't know for sure.

Haha oh that does sound like mine!
She also always misses out on treats because the others gobble them up before she has a chance to get to them. That might be those ear tufts getting in her line of vision though

She's definitely the omega bird in the flock and the others will give her a peck if she goes for "their" treats, but she's still the sweetest to people even if she is a bit of a loner around the other chickens

Mine too!! The thing I recognized about her is she is a loner. She will be on the opposite side of all the other hens in the run. She likes to do her own thing. She HATES rain and she is usually the first to bed. She is a sweetheart.

Mine is the complete opposite... She is definately the Alpha in my little flock. She will muscle the others out of the way for treats

, she will read my lab the riot act and peck her nose if she gets too close

, etc... She's a pretty sharp girl!

She always notices me coming with treats before the others...

and then she's just like "well?"
they are definitely a unique breed

I have 4 EE

#1 Escape artist - always notice if gate is ajar or will hop on something to get up and over

#2 Not the alpha but no where near the bottom !

#3 Shy around humans, stays away from top hens

#4 One of the front runners - always tries to be first

My dizzy ones seem to be the polish that can't see everything - jumps a lot, very sweet to other chickens, never in front always tags along
