Hi, I’m hoping that someone with splash Marans experience can help me decide whether to rehome this splash baby or wait. She? is 9 weeks old. We got four straight run black/blue/splash copper Marans hatchlings from a local breeder. At six weeks, a Black and Blue were clearly male and rehomed. This splash and the one black looked like pullets and had similar combs at six weeks. Soon after, the splash pinked up in face and comb and we noticed sparring with other birds. At 9 weeks, the comb on the splash still isn’t as developed as the obvious boys were theee weeks ago, but her comb is much more developed than her obviously pullet hatchmate. I’m seeing little in her wattles. I’m not seeing pointed hackle or saddle feathers, but her tail feathers are irregular. I’m looking for something like 90% odds of cockerel to rehome, otherwise I’d prefer to wait. However, I have a better chance of rehoming younger cockerels... Anyone with splash marans willing to weigh in? Following pics are the splash in question, then the black pullet who is also 9 weeks, and the two cockerels when they were six weeks old. Thanks!
