She’s a hatchery quality barred rock. Marans have pink skin.
@MysteryChicken ’s rocks are heritage, which is why their barring is a lot crisper.
I just got back from taking pictures, their skin is more yellow than I thought, so I think they might be BRs after all@QuailQueen75 , what color is your Barred hen's feet?
I can't tell that great. She could be showing signs of bleaching if she's a Barred rock. The yellow will fade to white/pink if she's a really prolific layer.I just got back from taking pictures, their skin is more yellow than I thought, so I think they might be BRs after all

Silkies can actually have no crest, & a single comb. If you got her from a hatchery, it can happen.
The crest is semi dominant, so it can be sometimes not passed down.
View attachment 3041586She's half Silkie, & a great example.
Wow! I had no idea! The most likely reason your Silkie wasn't crested, was because both parents didn't have a Crest.
If two crested birds breeds, it's 100% crested.
Breeding Crested to non crested can result in a mix of full crested, small crested, or a small chance of non crested. Getting a non crested bird from this breeding isn't that common but does happen sometimes.
It's okay, were all here to learn, & teach each other.Wow! I had no idea!
That would be great! It's okay, were all here to learn, & teach each other.
