Odd's Rescued Pasty Babies - Round 2!!

She was! She had perfect Silkie feathering and black skin, so I’m not sure what she was crossed with
The crest is semi dominant, so it can be sometimes not passed down.

She's half Silkie, & a great example.

I just got back from taking pictures, their skin is more yellow than I thought, so I think they might be BRs after all 🙂

I can't tell that great. She could be showing signs of bleaching if she's a Barred rock. The yellow will fade to white/pink if she's a really prolific layer.

Pattern is alittle smudgy, but not super smudgy as I originally thought. I think it was the lighting.

The most likely reason your Silkie wasn't crested, was because both parents didn't have a Crest.

If two crested birds breeds, it's 100% crested.

Breeding Crested to non crested can result in a mix of full crested, small crested, or a small chance of non crested. Getting a non crested bird from this breeding isn't that common but does happen sometimes.

Silkies can actually have no crest, & a single comb. If you got her from a hatchery, it can happen.
