I rescued chloe just over four months ago she was a battery hen. she died this afternoon of peritonitis. i want to post this here because everyone thinks im mad to love a chicken so much and noone understands... but i hope you all do.

Chloe
Don’t go or you will forget me, or worse I will forget you.
When I can’t remember your face and your features blend in with everyone else’s
I think I will go insane not to see you again and all searching I do will be in vain
Because no one will be you
I listened to every word you ever said to me, trying to understand
I glowed when I saw you happy, oh man
I am going to miss you, don’t go
You left me so early on, I could have made you happy
Don’t forget me, don’t forget your only summer
Don’t forget the grass on your feet and the tickle of the wind on your skin
Because I won’t forget your softness against my lips as I kissed you goodbye
My tears staining you forever into the afterlife, fell heavily on your delicate body
I don’t want to forget you, or forget how my heart raced when I saw your face
Or that I never walked alone because you kept pace.
I promise to you that I will not forget you, and that your dignity in life humbles me
That on my knees I do swear to help as many like you
To shelter to love and to protect, because you opened my heart to a new world
I am a better person. My heart is always beating with love for you, I will see you in every patch of sun. Please don’t forget me. I will never forget you
