now I want to know what do I put in my run to keep odor down. now dont say sand because im not buying it as odor controller. ive smelled some raunchy sand in my day. and im not too concerened about ease of cleaning.Ive heard of deep bed of hemlock . Any suggestions would be great.

I rake my run once a week and take out the big poop bombs I find... I sprinkle a bit of DE around and thats about all I do. Sometimes I'll spread a bit of lime around as well.

I use a broken gravel with a french drain. I think it helps.

If you do not clean very often, it will probably smell at least a little.

Keeping the run dry would help a lot, maybe a roof or a pea gravel floor. I have that in the floor of one coop because the area floods during spring breakup and is slow to drain because of the frozen ground. It basically raised the bird's floor above the water level.
