Hello. I have a bunch of chickens. We have four bantams, (separated into groups of two for now.) 3 baby RIRs, (soon to be two, we think.) the big chicks in the brooder (there are 5 of these.) 3 standard roosters, and 1 Barred Rok hen that is sure she's a bantie or a bantie mommy. We also have two Silkies, but I don't usually count them because they're still chicks and they're in the house. We've had several losses over the last few days. First, a raccoon tore a chick out of the dog crate we had been keeping her in and killed her. All we have left is a pile of feathers. (Sound like a raccoon? We're not positive it was one.) Then we lost a RIR. We had a baby gate with holes over her cage. There were three other baby RIRs in the cage with her. None were touched. My mom said the baby gate lid didn't look right in the morning, but that's all we know. Then the electrician ran over one of my Duckwing roos.
So I think we need more bantams and possibly replacement RIRs. I wanted to order the bunch from MPC, but apparently they don't sell OEGB Silver Duckwings. I only wanted five chicks total between the two. Maybe I could convince my mom to add in a Barred Rock and a Sex Link hen, too. Anyway, I have to order just a very few because my mom doesn't want more chickens. I have to ask her and find a way to get her to allow replacements, so, if I can convince her, it will have to be a very small number. I can't get any from a feed store this time of year, and MPC has no duckwings. Craiglist has no nearby Duckwings, either. What am I to do? I don't know where I can find what I want.
