I have a lone red pyle OEGB roo- my favorite. I have a couple hens that are pure- just not his "variety". What would happen if I crossed him with
    1) a splash hen
    2) a silver duckwing hen
    OR BOTH?

I'm wondering about what colors would go better? I love OEGBs and don't show, so I'd have them for pets only.

I don't show either and really enjoy seeing what comes out of crosses like that. Sometimes you can get some really beautiful birds. I would give himm both hens and wait for the surprises!

I am sure that the bantams coloring are like the std oeg i have, so here are some of my experiences with crossing these colors.

Silver duckwing hen: the sd color is dominant to the "red" color, (see my avatar for a cross between red pyle x golden duckwing), so many of the chicks will come out that way (duckwing), though some may come golden and "brassy" backed.

splash hen: with splash it is hard telling, my splash x blue b red produced blue brested red and blue fowl. Crossed with golden duckwing, produced a brown & blue breasted red roo, (only hatched 1 chick)

That is what is so amazing about crossing up oeg fowl, sometimes you never know what you are going to get. It is like Christmas in spring...

good luck and post some picks if ya can as to what you get...

I LOVE my OEGB's ! Unfortunately, none are laying yet, but when they do I'll start saving eggs. I got a cutie last year from my silver duckwing hen & my blue brassyback roo.

If I can get imageshack to cooperate, I'll post a pic.

I ordered 10 splash OEGB and was wondering what everyone thinks about the splash. We've also got a crele bb red mix too and his hatchmate
