Of Feathers And Flames- A Wings of Fire AU RP

Pics
Robin was waking up. He couldn't see much through the trees, but the sky looked nice. He flew above the trees. The sky was blue. The air was fresh. Everything was great. He flew up higher. He could already see people at the park. He flew towards the park and ascended at the same time. Most humans didn't notice him. Occasionally a little kid saw him, and told their parents. By that time, he was gone and the parents dismissed it as nothing more than the child's imagination.
As Robin was hovering, he heard a weird buzzing sound. Before he could turn around, something hit him hard on the back of his head, and everything went black.

Corvus flared his black wings and dropped off the cliff face, catching a breeze and flying low over the forest. He caught a couple rabbits and flew to the crest of the mountain, landing with a thud. He dropped the rabbits and gazed out at the landscape spreading below with narrowed eyes. The humans were clearing the forest at the base of the mountain for their cold metal cities, leaving nothing but dead brown stumps. Their machines cleared out a square mile of forest a day, at least.
Corvus soared down and glided as close as he could get to the area. Sentinel towers stood everywhere, blinking with slow, red lights. Corvus could guarantee that there was some kind of nasty trap in there designed to keep dragons away, and he wasn't about to go test his theory.
The city was so loud, he could hear it from miles away. The humans metal vehicles made so much noise, and they smelled. A cloud of dark smog always rested over the city.
There was barely any forest left. And Corvus could do nothing to protect his home.
It frustrated him so much. But being put in a cage, or killed, was probably worse.

Phoenix was doing her own, bit of scouting, keeping low to the trees in hopes of hiding her bright copper feathers. Some twisted human would probably love to turn her feathers into a rug or a coat or something wierd like that, and she wasn't about to get caught. Suddenly she heard voices.

Banking hard, she dove into the trees, trying to stifle her anxiety. She could already feel a faint glow around her feathers. She crouched low to the dead leaf and pine needles that littered the ground, watching. A group of humans were standing around a yellow machine, grumbling. Their machine seemed to be broken. It was one of the machines that moved logs after the trees were cut down. Phoenix sighed. Nothing much of interest. Now to get out.

She was well aware that these humans probably carried guns. All the ones that ventured outside of the city did. She wiggled backwards slowly, the dirt wedging itself uncomfortably beneath her feathers. When she determined she was far away enough, she stood up and began a quick trot, away from the lumberyard. Then she broke into a run, and then she was flying. she lifted above the trees and flew off with the intent of finding Corvus.

She found him gazing out at the city, a couple of rabbit remains around his feet. Corvus' tail was twitching, an irritated habit.
Phoenix sidled up to stand next to him, tucking her wings close around her.

"We should leave." Corvus said eventually, not looking at Phoenix.

"And go where?" Phoenix inquired, tilting her head. Corvus let out a long sigh, curls of vapor hissing out of his nostrils.
"No where to go, is there?" he said. He looked at her with defeated green eyes.

"One of their machines is broken," Phoenix said, nudging Corvus with one wing. "That's a good thing, isn't it? Quit moping."

"One machine out of what... a hundred? A thousand?" Corvus huffed, his ears flattening to his skull as he looked away from her.

"You're such a pessimist," Phoenix said with a sigh.

Eclipse let out an irritated grunt. Cool moist rainforest air wafted through the large entrance further up the cave. The only noise was the lulling sounds of the chittering birds and trickling stream. A thick mist muffled most of the sound, providing a comfortable stuffy air. The stone floor could have been uncomfortable, but the dragon-sized frond leaves bunched up on the ground provided a minor amount of cushion. It was the perfect hiding place.
Or so she had thought. Eclipse cocked her head in the direction of the entrance, listening intently for any other signs of dragon presence. It was hard enough trying to sleep on solid stone. It was even harder when dragons just felt the need to tromp around, growl, snarl, and shriek wherever they went. Bonus if you were a shallow sleeper.
Like her.
She slowly lifted her head waiting for any other sign of the dragon she was certain she'd heard. Finally, a shriek echoed through the cave walls, confirming her suspicion. Only it didn't come from the forest outside. The cry sounded from somewhere behind her, deeper into the hollow. Her head snapped around and the crest on the back of her neck rose. All remanence of sleep was chased away by her alarm. She stood up stiffly not taking her eyes off the back of the cave, though she knew it wouldn't do much good. The rock cleft was pitch black--the very reason she'd chosen it.
Spine arched, Eclipse padded tensely toward the back of the cave. Ever since she'd stepped foot in this place, she couldn't shake the strange prickling sensation along her spine. She'd figured it was just her imagination. Given the place--an ominous cave looming in the side of a crumbling boulder in the middle of the rainforest--one might assume it would give off an eerie aura.
But maybe that feeling was the sensation of another presence. Maybe she hadn't been alone all along, and the whole time, she was just a few tail lengths and a corner away from being discovered. She reached for the sheath against her neck, drawing the long whip-thin dagger, and slowed as she approached the bend in the tunnel. Pressing against the hard stone, she peered around the corner.
I don't remember the boulder being this long, she thought. Nothing stirred in the darkness in front of her. No noise, no sensation, nothing. She slid around the corner and continued soundlessly down the hall, her talons landing ghostly silent despite the hard stone. She paused again as the tunnel turned sharply once more, waiting longer this time before cocking her head around enough to see, as painstakingly slow as before.
Still nothing.
She waited a moment longer, then slithered forward and threw the dagger into the black void. The sound that echoed back to her ears was not one she expected to hear. It sounds like the dagger dig stab something, but then slid over some sort of grainy surface before clinking silently back on the floor of the cave.
Eclipse hesitated for a moment before pacing forward, sliding her claws across the stone in search of her weapon. Her talon snagged on the pummel and the closed her hand around it. To her shock, the dagger was covered in sand. She reached out and her talon sunk into the sticky hard grit that was sloping down from the roof. It slid down onto her back talons and more of it spilled from some hidden space behind it. She reached out more firmly and clawed at the sand.
Then again.
And again.
She started to dig. Sand scattered across the floor and over her feet, grinding uncomfortably between her claws. After what felt like an eternity, the sand in front of her slid away and blinding light shot into the cave. Eclipse recoiled blinking as sand continued to slide and settle across the stone, and she shielded her eyes. Stifling heat washed into the cave, chasing away the comfortable cool from the forest.
Three moons... what is this?
Eclipse carefully stepped up the sandy bank, extending her neck to see over the rise.
Rising waves of sand covered the land, from horizon to horizon. The sun shone close and bright beating down on her silver scales and sending waves of heat shooting out of the sand. There wasn't a cloud in the sky--even a lone human wing transport high up wasn't able to pull enough vapor to form a cloud tail. Eclipse scanned the scene, trying not to let her jaw drop in awe.
But... this isn't possible. How can there be a tunnel to the desert, in the rainforest? It's a continent away, and I only walked a few wing lengths
Movement caught her eye off to the southeast and she instinctively flattened herself against the sand. Several large black shapes were circling over the sand, and she could hear more clearly now the sounds of scavengers and dragons screaming and roaring to one another.
Nightwing hunters. She thought, her eyes slitting. She watched them circle and dive at the sand and she arched her neck to see what they were attacking.
She couldn't tell, from the distance she was at, the only sign of a dragon on the ground was the churning sand. Suddenly fire shot up through the air, slicing between two of the Nightwings.
Eclipse watched a moment longer, cold hatred churning inside her chest.
I shouldn't go out there. I have a mission, and this dragon's problems aren't my own. One Nightwing is dangerous enough--a whole group is reckless. And all for what--one silly dragon who didn't think it was maybe a bad idea to be out in the middle of the day? Not my problem.
Eclipse stood in the dip for a long moment, tailing twitching. Then she reached up and unhooked the chakram on the back of her neck, before launching into the air and twisting in the direction of the hunters.

Ok first off; your art style is so cool!! Second, I'm a friend of @Crestcrazy2 and I love dragons and the WOF series! I haven't read the last three books of the Lost Continent prophecy, but I love the rest of the series. I'd be really glad to join this roleplay if that's alright! Below is my application :) btw I'm not very familiar with all the fantribes, but I may end up being in one because they're so cool :)

I promise to uphold the pre-stated rules.

Name: Neoma
Gender: Female
Age: in human years, I'd say nineteen. So however you'd like to phrase that.... :)
Tribe: Lunarwing
Physical appearance: Smaller than the average Lunarwing, and wiry. Eyes are a deep periwinkle. The dots on the side of her neck are white and seem to glow slightly in the dark.
Personality: Outgoing and friendly, but also extremely suspicious of most others at first until they can prove their true colors are as they claim. Quick to get annoyed, and likes to sometimes start either play fighting or really fighting when there's not enough going on. Loves to practice fighting in free time. Skilled with her warping (the term I thought could be used for the liquid that the Lunarwings meld with their minds). Very defensive of the dragons she's close to. Not a huge fan of taking orders from authority, but if she chooses to be loyal to someone, she would die for them. Can be very sneaky. Some of her more notable flaws; sometimes she can be too suspicious of someone or can get too irritated. Also tends to get in a silly mood and let her guard down too much, she doesn't have a huge in between. Can get rather moody or have traumatic flashbacks that cause her to shut down for a bit, either wanting to be alone or only with one other dragon of her choosing. She often goes into a bit of a zoned-out state, and can need to be snapped out of it. But don't let any of this fool you, she can be the most fun and loving dragon ever if she trusts someone!
Backstory: She was raised in a group with about five other Lunarwings. Her parents, two siblings, and a strange one that joined them when she was an egg. Her parents raised her with the old stories of the old dragons, and spoke tales of how the Lunarwings had been unfairly treated and had finally chosen to leave. Believing that story all her life has caused Neoma to have a bit of resentment for other dragons until they prove their loyalty. She's not totally sure if it's true, but it's the only truth she knows and the only reasoning she has for having been alone for so long. Her parents died when she was roughly half-age due to starvation and exhaustion, they had given most of their lives to feeding and protecting their young. Neoma's oldest sibling Milza attacked Neoma and her now-dead sibling Kyler, killing Kyler and almost killing Neoma before flying away with Darltrax, the stranger. Neoma doesn't know why she was left alive but she wants to find Milza and Darltrax and kill him, believing that Darltrax convinced her to do it.

There's my application! I may add another character later; I may add Milza for funsies. But atm, that's what I got! May I join? Also sorry about how long it is, I get carried away when I write
Finally reading bios- this is elite 👌👌🫡
