Of Feathers And Flames- A Wings of Fire AU RP

Pics
Sunspot flew beside the LunarWing, squinting in the dark. She was never up past dark because her eyesight was adapted for bright daylight, and her night vision was horrible. The moonlight helped though.
Eclipse glanced at the Solarwing as Sunspot glided up beside her squinting. The combination of the moonlight and Eclipse's night vision made seeing over the desert easy as if in broad daylight. Maybe even easier, given how blindingly reflective the sand was mid-day.

The flight to the Scorpian den was silent and somewhat awkward. It wasn't a long flight, but it was a decent distance, leaving plenty of time for the unfilled silence to grow. Eclipse tried to ignore it, focusing on scanning the dunes as they passed quickly beneath them.

(I am foolishly still awake soooo…. One more part at least 🤦🏼‍♀️ I need help bc I can’t get myself to actually sleep… and it’s almost midnight)

Neoma continued gliding through the air, enjoying the breeze and the warmth of the desert after the frigid air of the ice and snow. The fire in the distance peaked her interest.
Neoma angled her wings slightly, so that the wind would slip over and under them quieter. She pinned her ears to the side of her head, doing everything to make herself smaller and more streamlined. She came within sighting distance of the flames, and-
A flash of silver caught her eye as two forms rose into the air and began flying in her direction.
Silver?!
SILVER?!!?
Neoma stifled a startled cry and yanked her wings in, performing one of the quickest nose dives she had recorded for herself. Her brain still reeling, it was all she could do to remind herself not to be seen.
There was only one type of dragon she could clearly think of having silver scales, and she thought there weren’t really any left.
Apparently she, a Lunarwing, had been fully convinced there were no others.
Furious at herself for even entertaining the idea of what she’d thought she’d seen, Neoma shook her head violently.
She silently flapped upwards, and flew above and behind the two forms. Having practiced quiet flight was a blessing, but she had never had to use it like this; so close to these two, yet having to follow so quietly.
She watched closely, following them at a slight distance. The darkness seemed to be fading as she was getting used to the lack of light, and the scales of the one dragon seemed like her own- silver and almost metallic.
And the markings- the form-
Moons above.
It couldn’t be.
Totally ignoring the other dragon, Neoma focused on the one.
This one looked exactly like a Lunarwing.

Sunspot ignored the stretching silence, listening to the sounds of the desert. Coyotes yipped on the ground below, singing their wild songs.

Suddenly she froze. Did she hear….?

She strained her ears, listening carefully. Her own wingbeats, fast with a faint whistle-hiss noise when she glided. Eclipses smooth wingbeats… and quieter, in the distance, a third set.

Sunspot turned around rapidly, hissing, looking into the dark, but she could barely see. She flared her scales threateningly, fiery light lighting up the night.

"What are you doing you lunatic?!" Eclipse snarled jerking quickly away from Sunspot to avoid getting singed. "You're going to give us away"
The sudden influx of light stung her eyes and she squinted, diving beneath the flaming dragon so she could see the ground beneath her glare. The Scorpion Den was approaching fast, and now Eclipse was stuck flying in a dark sky with a practical homing beacon.

Neoma squinted.
Her breath catching in her throat, she sped up slightly. She threw caution to the wind, desperately craning her neck to see if this could be a Lunarwing. Specifically a female-
The markings on the neck.
The scales.
The tail form.
Everything.
Just then, the one she had ignored suddenly turned and burst into flames. This wasn’t anything Neoma had ever seen, and she faltered. But the anger inside her was bubbling up. The doubt at the flaming beast was drowned by her fury.
Anger over fear now.
Neoma’s growl started deep inside her and rose up, bursting out of her loudly.
There was only one other female Lunarwing she knew of that existed.
She sped forward, not bothering to be quiet anymore. By the time the Lunarwing realized she was there, it would be too late anyways.
She was above the Lunarwing.
She pinned her wings against her ribs-
And dropped.
Straight down.
All four legs shot straight out beneath her, and she caught the other dragon by the back, shoving her beneath.
Neoma had one second of pure delight at the shock on the Lunarwings face before slamming into the sand beneath.
“MILZA! MILZA YOU’RE DEAD NOW!” Neoma roared, almost insane with rage and adrenaline.
She pulled back her talons, ready to slit her sister’s throat-
And noticed the eyes. This one’s weren’t her sisters color-
Milza’s were almost green….

It happened too fast for her to react. Eclipse felt the force smash into her back and the claws dig into her scales. For one moment there was nothing but wind and floundering wings--hissing and snarling. And then she hit the sand. Her snout ground against the particle-sized blades. Sand scratched up her entire underside, jamming beneath the plate scales on her stomach and skinning the soft flesh on her cheeks.
"MILZA! MILZA YOU'RE DEAD NOW!"
The roar sounded almost in her ear so loud it hurt. She felt the talons release her back and one grabbed her throat, talons curling inward for the kill.
The next moment happened so fast. Eclipse cocked her head back at the dragon on top of her, rage burning through her veins. She couldn't see her face, only the silhouette of her attacker. She could see Sunspot behind her--a flapping mess of flames.
The dragon hesitated.
Mistake Eclipse thought darkly.
She jerked her neck hard out of the dragon's grasp and with a massive heave, she twisted beneath her attacker. The dragon slipped sideways caught unaware, and Eclipse pulled back her hind legs in beneath the dragon's belly and gave a massive kick

AHHH IM SO EXCITED but I’ll reply in the morning, I’m gonna get killed irl if I don’t get enough sleep!!! 😂 night

Night had (apparently) fallen, yet the valley was bathed in moonlight. King had heard stories from the time he was little about how the moons would grant you powers like mind reading and future telling. He was never sure how though, and even though it was a silly notion, he still gazed up at the moons every night. He never had the chance to when he was in the human city, he was told all those stories and denied the chance to even see the moons. He glanced from the sky down to the peaceful village below, one of the last it seemed.
Then he just sat there, on the ledge of a mountain, taking in the view and fresh icy air.

Helios had hunted most of the day, catching a few large lizards and a mouse that was too slow to get to its burrow. He had found the smallest oasis EVER and set up a small camp. “Where could all those rebel solarwings be? There’s only so much room on this continent.”

Neoma squinted.

Sunspot dodged out of the way as a silver shape dropped from the sky onto Eclipses shoulders. “Woah-“

She watched with wide eyes as the two dragons crashed to the sand. What?? Another LunarWing-

Silver scales flashed on the dunes, and Sunspot hesitated, mind racing. If she let Eclipse get killed, Sunspot could go free. On the other talon, eclipse could be extremely useful to her.

“Ughhhh” growled Sunspot, tucking her wings into a dive.

“HEY.” She yelled, shooting a blast of flame past the second LunarWings head. “THATS MY USEFUL CONNECTION I CANT HAVE HER DEAD.”
