Dred had finally spotted the truck with his teammates in it and soared down on unsteady wings. He landed outside the truck with a thump, crashing into the side of it slightly and making it rock back and forth a few times. “Oops. Not great at flying, sorry.” He said with a grin.

Shrike jumped away from the truck, glaring at Kapok. “Ya wanna kill us all?” He huffed.

Kapok practically leapt out of the truck, unable to contain his excitement at the aspect of freedom. But despite his urge to leap into the air and fly and swoop until his wings hurt, he stayed beside Shrike, sensing the Cloudwing's caution and unease. Dred dropped out of the sky suddenly, making Kapok jump a little and he gave the Mudwing and amused grin when he crashed into the side of the transport clumsily.
Kapok blinked up at the blazing sun still rising in the sky. The feeling of the light on his scales made him want to lay on the ground with his wings unfurled like a giant leaf, soaking up every drop of its rays. He couldn't stop smiling.

The CloudWing glanced at Kapok, then turned back to stare at him. He looked so.. happy. The feathered dragon didn’t realize he was smiling crookedly. “Go on, go fly,” he urged.

Kapok tilted his head at Shrike, his smile faltering slightly. He glanced down pointedly at the Cloudwings clipped wings, fixing him with a sympathetic stare. More than anything, he wanted to leap into the air and spiral and swoop through the mountain ledges, but he couldn't leave Shrike alone, especially knowing the Cloudwing still couldn't fly.

Shrike tucked his wings closer to his body self-consciously, and jerked his head towards the open air. “C’mon, I’ll be fine. It’s not permanent ya know. No sense in you not being able ta fly. Go ahead.”

Kapok stayed where he was, his face a mix of uncertainty and worry. He paused a moment before shaking his head and gesturing the Cloudwing forward, starting in the direction of the caves and the smell of food.
