Alicanto watched the hybrid for a moment and let out a small scoff, shaking his head before tracing his gaze over the trail of tire tracks.
As he'd predicted, the fugitive's car had in fact, been headed in this direction, and he couldn't wipe the smug grin off his face for nearly a full half an hour when they'd spotted the tracks leading away from one of the smaller roads, setting out over the flats here the dunes had shrunk some.
Now they could all see the transport and the cloud of dust that was spiraling up into the air behind it like a smoke signal. They were flying slightly faster than the vehicle, but with the lead the fugitives had on them as well as how slowly they were closing the gap, it would still take, at the most, another hour to catch up.
They had been flying since the sun had cleared the horizon that morning, and now the Cloud Mountains were much closer and the desert was practically glowing from the late morning sunlight that had finally climbed over the sand. Alicanto couldn't stand to fly so close to the searing dunes. The heat this far up was maybe only half as bad as closer to the ground where Gen was, reflected and magnified by the sand.
The Cloudwing knew that they would be easily seen from way up here, but it didn't really matter. Their targets had nowhere to go, and if they swerved off their course, the dragons would close the gap between them even faster than they already were. All they could do was keep running until the hunters were on top of them.
Alicanto smiled darkly, his eyes fixed on the transport in the distance. If there was even a way for them to escape, their chances were slim.

Ajax soared over the sand, watching the transport closely. Once they were over the fugitives, they could attack and take them back to the Scorpion Den. Ajax could already feel the excitement bubbling up in his chest. It had been so long since he fought a good competitor.
He descended closer to the dunes, flying lower than Alicanto but higher than Gen. It felt nice to take wing to the hot environment.

Gables glanced back at Tobias in the rearview mirror, his eyes drawn to Tobias' forearm. With just a quick look he could tell how terribly mangled Tobias' fingers looked, the raw, blistering skin bubbled, deep black patches marred his flesh, but the ice was gone. The ice was gone.
"Got it, Tobe?"
Tobias hesitated, and Gables glanced back, admiring Tobias' even expression as he began to clean the wound, starting just below his wrist where the skin was charred black.
"Hey, hey, just wrap it, we don't have time to clean it now. I'll help you when we reach the Checkpoint."
Tobias bit his lip, pulling his hand away as he leaned against the backseat, his left leg pushed against the center console, his right against the door, trying to steady himself as the car tore through the sand.
"You good, Tobe?"
Tobias glanced out the left window, unable to see much but the starry night sky and his own reflection. He took a deep breath, speaking as he exhaled, "Yeah, yeah. I'm fine. You got to go faster."
Gables shook his head. He was already pushing 120. He'd never driven this fast, and he fought to keep the vehicle steady, but every dune seemed to call his name, dragging them down every drift. "Just take care of your arm." He glanced at the clock. "Don't wrap it too tight."
"I know. Hey, turn the lights off."
"What? The interior-"
"No, no, the headlights."
Gables obliged hesitantly, glancing at the small trembling compass on the dash board. Gosh, he hoped this thing still worked, if it ever had.
Tobias was wrapping his arm, using his teeth as he worked, occasionally stopping to catch his breath. He worked down towards his fingers, nerves jumping uncontrollably as the bandages scaped against raw skin. "How far out do you think we are?" Tobias asked, his left hand shaking, he could hear the tremors in his own voice.
"We're close, Tobe. Hang in there, man, we're close."

Y'all are gonna be the death of me!!!!!!!!!!! i'm on page 266 rn trying to read all the way up to now, so i can properly catch up.... and every time I make a little bit of progress, y'all add like ten more pages!!!!!!!!! i'm so getting someone for this.
(saying this like I didn't fall behind on my own)
And I gotta figure stuff out so i can write my characters' parts........... if I could figure out what to quote, I would write that rn and catch up on the reading later; BUT GAH

Crap. I was trying to get caught up on stuff tonight, but since I lost track of stuff, it's taking a bit to get stuff figured out. I have to go to bed pretty soon bc I was exhausted these last couple days, and my parents would have me on the roof if I didn't get in bed on time tonight bc I was so tired I took a three hour nap today (still don't know how I fell asleep that long like what ;-; ) Anywhoo- I have to sign off....
*sob*

if it wouldn't be a hassle for anyone, can someone basically let me know what's going on with the traveling group? AKA Apple, Bamboo, Whitestar, Austin, Alyssia, Blackout. If I find out what's going on with them, I can catch up with those three.
Then, I can catch up with Neoma bc she's separated from everyone (not for much longer heheheh) but ofc all this will have to happen later tmrw evening bc WORK
But I can't wait to get caught up! If someone could sum up what is going on with the group my characters are mostly in, then I wouldn't have to read all of the one hundred pages rn lollllllllllll
Then I'd be caught up!!
If no one can for some reason, no worries and i'll figure something out tmrw

Tobe and Gables are speeding away in the desert, maybe 30 minutes out from the Checkpoint. They are being pursued by three bad guysz from The Den, characters belong to me, Bean, and Taber.
Sol and Helios are conversing at the Checkpoint.
Eclipse, Sunspot, and Bloodmoon are still reaching the... You know what, they just need to get to the Checkpoint, we're SO off on time. Tobe and Gables are a day ahead, holy heck, how.
Crest is at the Checkpoint.
Fracture and Jabez are still in jail.
Rose is in Ferrin's estate.
Ace is somewhere in the SD maybe, I'm a bit confused on his whereabouts.
Yukiko made a creepy dragon human thing, and Vulture is chilling with him or whatever.

That's all I can think of rn, Taber can get more in depth.
