Of Feathers And Flames- A Wings of Fire AU RP

"No!" Sol shouted, as if words could stop the dragons before they careened into the sand dune. He charged towards the CloudWing, a thick spray of sand shooting through the air as the dragons ahead struggled.
Sol could feel his scales growing incredibly hot, the sand beneath his talons now sizzling, a boiling, thick, black liquid. He dodged Eclipse, roaring as he shoved the CloudWing down into the sand, pinning a talon against the dragons neck as he wrenched it's wing back, revealing Tobias.
With quick, familiar actions, Sol pushed his talon harder against the CloudWing's neck, growling as the shining feathers began to bubble. He couldn't touch Tobias- not without searing right through the skin. He hoped Eclipse would catch on as he shifted his weight against the CloudWing, roaring as he fought to keep the thrashing dragon pinned.
Ajax bustled after the SolarWing quickly, thinking of the ways to stop him from escaping. He supposed that biting would be the most accessible option. Once he caught up with him, he sunk his teeth into a scarred leg. When he unlatched, he had the taste of burning flesh as well as poison in his mouth.
The burnt flesh was unusual, but the poison taste was even weirder.
Sol felt his entire body grow rigid, and he roared, refusing to release the CloudWing as the hideous pain ripped through his nerves. The pain next to unbearable, Sol felt his back leg give out, and he struggled to balance, his forewing still pressed tightly against the CloudWing's throat.
“What…?” Ajax wondered aloud, stumbling backwards. He only bit him, that was it. It shouldn’t be that painful. Ajax snapped out of it and ran to the SolarWing, slamming into him while he was in so much agonizing pain. He used all of his strength to free Alicanto, causing Sol to roll off with Ajax.
Thin, wispy smoke rose from Sol's wings, burning into the hybrid's scales. Sol latched his wing talon around his opponents neck, blasting more jubilant flames as he slammed the dragon against the sand, refusing to lose Tobias.
His leg continued to give way, throwing his balance off completely. Sol released the hybrid and tried to retreat towards the CloudWing, but he fell, scrambling to rise in an a desperate manner as the sand below boiled and popped.
Ajax growled loudly as his scales blazed painfully. He watched as the SolarWing fell over, the sand underneath him burning up. He stood and noticed the wound in Sol’s leg that he caused. It was turning a sickly shade of green and bubbling up. It looked sort of like a really bad infection.
Ajax dismissed it once again and clambered to Alicanto.
Alicanto didn't even have time to react.
As he fell, he instinctively folded his wings over Tobias, protecting him from the impact, once again driven by the unrecognizable feeling that he shouldn't hurt the human.

Eclipse lay in the sand for a moment, stunned. Her shoulder was throbbing and spasming with pain and she groaned, heaving herself to her talons. Heat blasted past her scales and she leapt away with a snarl, expecting one of the other dragons to suddenly be upon her.
Sol dodged around her and leapt at the Cloudwing, pressing his wing hook into the dragon's throat, the smell of burning feathers swirling sickeningly into the air.

Alicanto felt the scream tear through his burning throat as Sol pinned him into the sand, the unbearable heat pressing beneath his disintegrating feathers and into the skin and flesh around his neck. He couldn't even hear his own voice erupt from his mouth, or the sound of the Solarwing's furious roars, the screaming, the snarling, the growling. He was vaguely aware of it all, but it was drowned by the adrenaline and pain that was shooting through his mind like a tidal wave of fire.
His wing was burning now, he tried to wrench it free, unsuccessfully. His mind scrambled as he tried to claw out with his one talon, trying to kick with his back legs, fighting the fog of heat that surrounded his head, channeling up from his neck. He couldn't breathe. His eyes were streaming, his vision blurred and tainted black around the edges. The flaming silhouette of Sol outlined in the center of a black background.

Eclipse stared in shock for a long moment as Sol dug his wing hook into the silver Cloudwing's throat, making him scream. The Solarwing's golden eyes blazed with a fury and a fire that Eclipse could hardly remember seeing before, the sand around him sizzling and hardening into clumps of blackened glass. She felt her stomach churn as the Cloudwing's throat hissed, the flesh burning as the feathers ignited and crumbled away, leaving his skin exposed.
Sol didn't stop, only pressed harder, an otherworldly light pulsing in his eyes, any note of the emotional, soft dragon she'd only started to know gone.
Eclipse took a step forward, unsure what to do. The Cloudwing was the same ethereal silver as she was and she'd seen the warping. He wasn't a Lunarwing, obviously, and she guessed he was probably a hybrid.
Like the dark red dragon charging across the dune toward Sol, his teeth sinking into the Solarwing's healing leg.

Alicanto gasped as Sol's weight finally came off of his neck and wing, his brain quickly trying to recover from the panic and he readjusted his grip on Tobias again. It was a wonder he'd managed to hold onto the human through the whole thing. He tried to push himself upright, seeing Ajax wrestle with Sol for a moment through fogged eyes. Flames engulfed the hybrid, who backed away with a loud snarl of pain. Sol tried to flounder toward Alicanto, but his leg gave out and he dropped onto the sand again, his breath heaving in loud gasps of exhaustion, pain, and rage. The Cloudwing took a step back, baring his teeth at the blurry Solarwing as Ajax stood behind him.
"Do something you idiot," Alicanto snapped at Ajax, still gasping from Sol's brutal attack. His warping blades were returning to him, but they were hard to control, and his brain felt fogged and messy. The sand behind him shifted and Alicanto whipped around, slashing out with his claws, expecting Gen to be there again. Instead, his talon connected with metallic, silver scales.

Eclipse snapped out of her haze as the Cloudwing's bitter snarl tore across the battle scene, directed at the other hybrid. A set of warping blades were hovering unsteadily from the wreckage of the car, obviously directed by the other silver dragon, and Eclipse could see the odd color forming around Sol's leg where the other hybrid had bitten him.
She lunged forward, hoping to catch the unsteady Cloudwing off guard and retrieve Tobias, but in a flash of silver feathers, he whirled around, his wicked black claws slashing toward her neck. Eclipse ducked out of reflex, but the Cloudwing's talons connected with her face, tearing across her cheek and sending a jolt of pain through her skull. She half stumbled half darted sideways past the Cloudwing, warping sliding from the scales around her eyes and forming into a trio of dagger-shaped blades. She snarled as she launched the first two at the silver dragon, the last one darting sideways toward the hybrid fighting Sol, and she lunged at the Cloudwing again.

Alicanto ducked beneath the first warping blade, knocking the other aside with a silver weapon of his own. He reared back, locking claws with the Lunarwing with one talon, beating his wings into her face and backing away, still snarling.

Eclipse yanked her head back, turning her face away as the sand-covered wings pounded against her head and neck. She reached out blindly against the flurry of feathers and sand, trying to grab Tobias from the other dragon's grip, falling back a moment later with a growl of frustration. She brought her warping blades back, swinging them both at the feathered dragon from either side.

Alicanto repositioned his own warping, hovering it between the Lunarwing's and himself, the silver blades clashing like swords in the air. He lunged at her, slashing out with his talon again before rolling sideways to avoid her retaliation, moving his warping blade again as he stood up to block hers.

Eclipse dodged the Cloudwing's attack and swung her good wing around to deliver her own blow. The feathered dragon rolled away and leapt to his feet again as she brought her blades around toward his head. The metal clashed again and his warping shoved violently at hers, pushing them away and giving him room to launch his weapon at her. One of her blades blocked his and the other looped around in the air, coming down toward his spine.

Alicanto leapt away, the Lunarwing's blade stabbing into the sand where he'd been standing, and he jerked his warping blade up, grinding it against hers as she tried to move it to attack again. More movement caught his eye, and he glanced sideways briefly.

Gen charged the CloudWing, his scales shifting to match the swirling desert as he ran. He dug a tight claw into Alicanto's neck, the scales still hot from Sol's go at the dragon, tearing the silver dragon off his feet for but a moment.
The red SolarWing made two, intense lunges from where he stood above Ajax, then fell beside the CloudWing, his wings seizing up a moment later.
Tobias hung limply in Alicanto's talons, and Gen's heart jumped, fearing the human's neck might had been snapped.
Sol must have seen this, too, and he shoved himself back from the sand below, just as the CloudWing freed himself from Gen's grip.
The large, red dragon moved behind Alicanto, swinging his wing out a moment later around his opponents neck, pulling the dragon tightly against himself.
Gen could hear the spitting sizzle of heat as he gripped Alicanto's forearm, his tail poised, aimed directly for the silver dragon's exposed underbelly.

The crushing pain in his chest had chased Tobias back from the present, a sudden, jarring pop losing him completely as the dragon's warred.
A vague awareness muffled his thoughts, and an increasing pressure screamed for his attention as something else snapped in his chest. Tobias cried out as the world rushed into focus, rigid in the dragon's forearm as he slammed his head back, trying to be rid of the scales and the pain.

Corvus jumped to his feet quickly, taking a step back. “CloudWing rebellion?” He asked, eyes narrowed. “Vultures rebellion?”

Alarm bells rang in his head and Corvus could feel his wings spreading involuntarily. “What do you want?” He hissed.
Interesting... Sage thought as he saw the cloudwing's reaction out of the corner of his eye. Could he be? The way the cloudwing said Vulture's name sent a slight confirmation of Sage's hunch and he decided to act on that hunch.
"What do you want?" the cloudwing hissed at him, obviously growing skeptical of the strange dragon in front of him.
This dancing around stuff is making me crazy. I'm just gonna get to the point. Sage turned towards the cloudwing and stood, his full form showing. The human-like face with piercing blue eyes and horns extending from his head. The scaly gray skin going all the way down his body and claws extending from his human-like hands and his dragon-like feet. His tail thrashed once as he stood and then hovered in the air, tensed for combat. Finally, Sage stretched his long wings to show the full form of the creature standing in front of this cloudwing.
"Vulture sent me to extend an invitation to you," he began. "He thinks that you would be an excellent help in fighting against Queen Cirrus. We can help you and you can help us." He looked the cloudwing in the eyes, "You're grandfather specifically wanted you."
He waited, studying the reaction of the cloudwing. Sage's hand hovered right over the muzzle. I better be right about his grandfather. Killing this early in the morning is not my favorite...

Here, I tried to get them going again ⬇️
Two hours passed by rather quickly for Jun. She helped in the Infirmary for a while, then was stationed next to the food and water supply. Dragons gorged themselves and drank so much they were sick- but very few could remember seeing so much food or water in one place before at one consecutive time.
Juniper had to carefully ration the food supply, gently turning those away who sought to horde, and welcoming those in who were half starved, her eyes quickly finding tell tale signs and moving dragons into separate categories before they had even approached- and every time her prediction was correct.
By the time the two hours had passed, the food line no longer needed supervision, and the patients in the Infirmary had been cared for.
Now she could relax, catch a break if she wished- but Jun's extroverted nature seemed positively stoked at the idea of meeting some of these new faces. Many she could recognize from the arena, even if they had only competed once or twice- her memory was incredible, which seemed to her as both a blessing, and a curse.
The one winged dragon smiled, spotting a familiar LeafWing ahead. A SkyWing stood loyally at the green dragon's side, a confident glint in his eye. Jun chocked back a laugh, recognizing the all too familiar expression.
"I know." A deep voice said from her left, and Jun jerked her head around, Vel's voice incredibly close. "Sorry. Wrong side, wrong side, chill down." The grey dragon crossed in front of Juniper, her hulking frame instantly dwarfing the purple RainWing. "SkyWing looks just like our idiots, doesn't he."
Jun laughed quietly, nodding. She thought fondly of Kassa and Kal. Vel did not. "Let's keep them apart if possible. These dragons need sleep."
Vel rolled her eyes, "Ya, Amen, good luck." She nodded towards the dragon pair with her signature sigh. "Ight. Let's go meet them, then."
With a good natured smile, Jun trotted towards the LeafWing, dipping her head politely as she neared the dragon.

Hibiscus glanced up from her fruit as a dragon approached, and her face lit up as she shot to her feet.
"Juniper!" she exclaimed. "You're here!" She threw her wings around the RainWing before she could stop herself.
