Of Feathers And Flames- A Wings of Fire AU RP

Leuria retreated a few steps, casting a wry glance towards Winter as the truck rolled past. It pulled in tightly against the wall, engine echoing noisily as brakes screeched. Leur approached the transport, light on her feet as the engine died out.

Raptor jumped out of the passenger’s seat of the truck’s cab, and the driver’s door made a ā€˜ding, ding, ding’ sound as the man who was driving climbed out and slammed the door shut. He moved to the back of the vehicle to open the back doors.
ā€œThey’re going to drive away as soon as the truck is unloaded, so we have to do it fast,ā€ Raptor said in a rush, approaching Leuria and Winter, ā€œand hopefully no dragon riders notice. Do you guys wanna help the dragons coming in and I can like, show them towards the bunker?ā€ She asked, getting more tentative as she spoke.
ā€œYeah I’ll do it,ā€ Winter said, taking a couple steps towards the back of the truck. The man had opened up the doors and a couple dragons had already climbed out.

Sol yawned. He stood and stretched.
Tobias was slumped on his side, sleeping, a knee pulled up protectively over his right arm.
The SolarWing steadied himself as the trailer leaned left, turning sharply. He glanced around to see who else was awake.

Shrike made a face. ā€œDang. That’s a long way ta go. I doubt many of them madeā€”ā€ he cut himself off with a wince, glancing at Kapok.
The CloudWing was awkwardly silent for a moment, running the whole scenario through his mind; his expression becoming clouded as he did. Finally the feather dragon stood abruptly, muttering ā€œfreaking scavengers..ā€ under his breath. ā€œWe’ll find ā€˜em okay? They’ll—they’ll be fine. We jus gotta fly over to the Bay of a Thousand Whatevers and we’ll.. find ā€˜em. Alright?ā€ He turned away as the truck began to slow slightly.
ā€œYeah it took them a whole year to move the entire tribe that far. At least that’s what Pitch said.ā€ He started, ā€œI wonder if that old tree hugger got out with the rest of us.ā€ He pondered, glancing at the sad leafwing as kapok turned away.

Raptor spotted the first of the transport trucks rounding a corner slowly and glided down to meet it. The dragoness flew a short distance in front of the vehicle and landed on the cold asphalt, flapping her wings to hail the truck. It screeched to a stop in the middle of the street, the ones behind it stopping as well, bathed in the light of the brake lights ahead of them.
Raptor walked up to the driver’s side of the truck, partially blinded by the headlights shining into her eyes, and the man inside rolled the window down. ā€œYeh need something?ā€ He questioned. Raptor blinked furiously to try and be able to make out the features of the man’s face. ā€œI know where the next checkpoint is,ā€ Raptor hissed in English, glancing down the street and getting flashed yet again by the headlights of the truck behind them, ā€œI can show you to it.ā€
Clarity filled the man’s expression and he unlocked the side door. ā€œGet in,ā€ he said in a low tone, mentioning with his head towards the passenger door. Raptor walked around the front of the thrumming truck and opened the door; clambering in. ā€œI think you need to shut the headlights off,ā€ Raptor said with an apologetic glance, ā€œso we don’t get seen.ā€ She tried to sit but the seat was made for humans. She crouched at an awkward angle, trying to keep her tail close to her body. She shut the door.
ā€œOoo, forgot about that,ā€ the man said, clicking the lights off. He radioed the other trucks on a walkie-talkie and soon the street went dark.
ā€œIt’s that way, all the way down the street and to the left,ā€ Raptor said, pointing down the road. The man nodded, and the trucks began moving forward again.
( maybe trucks from the SD have one seat for the Human to drive in and a huge seat for their dragons. Cuz idk abt the size differences in this rp but dragons seemed to be a lot bigger before šŸ˜‚ maybe dragons have been getting smaller?)

Helios breathed in the cold, night air. He knew hundreds of dragons were traveling stealthily below him, but it seemed for a moment he was the only one in the sky. The trucks halted momentarily and started to enter a town that shine dimly with artificial light. Possibility? Probably.

Raptor jumped out of the passenger’s seat of the truck’s cab, and the driver’s door made a ā€˜ding, ding, ding’ sound as the man who was driving climbed out and slammed the door shut. He moved to the back of the vehicle to open the back doors.

"Alright." Leuria glanced at Raptor as Winter moved to further assist the exiting dragons. She shared a wordless look with the hybrid for but a moment, then Leur shrugged. "Well, here we go, then. And so it begins." She moved towards the trailer. "Raptor, tell me if you need help out there."

ā€œNow see what you did ya thickhead,ā€ Shrike growled irritably, gesturing to the LeafWing. He barred his teeth, ā€œya had ta go an’ make it personal now, didn’t ya? Well congratulations,ā€ he said sarcastically, rolling his eyes.

Dred huffed, a spark of flame swirling quickly into the air before disappearing just as fast. The tattoos around his eyes scrunched up as he glared at the cloudwing. ā€œI didn’t do anything, featherball.ā€

Yes, I, uh... I noticed that. I think our dragon size is already considerably smaller than Sutherland's original design, but I like it this way since we have so many dragon and human relationships. Like, I'm pretty sure that one SandWing brother with Flower the scavenger had that liddle human quite literally in the palm of his talon. SHE WAS TINY.
Raptor getting in the passenger seat might even shrink our already tiny portions, or Raptor's just insect worthy small šŸ‘ŒšŸ‘ŒšŸ˜‚

Pain shot through her leg, like another volley of bullets was being fired into it. The bleeding had stopped with the help of some bandages and high quality would sealing glue. A salve had been applied around the edges of her burned mouth, a charred pattern seared into the corners of her once spotless face. Without the strength to walk Rose felt she had to study the room at the very least. It was large, big enough to house several dragons. Cold, and slightly damp around the edges of the old architecture. It seemed this basement hadn’t been changed when they rebuilt the Den to the humans liking. It was made of old stone with moss growing in the corners which she dared not try to connect with due to the debilitating headaches it had caused before. It had been upgraded somewhat of course. The supports were new, the lights and a few walls. It was possibly a lab of sorts. A section full of tables where she had been bound before caught her eye. There, on the middle table, sat her seed chest. Her most precious item after the disaster that was the escape. It contained all the plant life she’d ever owned or studied or created. ā€œHe kept his promise….he got it for me. Thank the trees.ā€ She thought.

I recall Clay saying in the first book that a full-grown human stood barely to his shoulder. Clay was a dragonet, so I'd assume that to a full-grown dragon, like Kestrel or Kapok, they would probably be to about the elbow, and a dragon's talons could fit easily around their torso. A larger dragon, like Moroseer or Helios, would absolutely dwarf them though, and I'd imagine that their talon would probably be almost as big as a human. (if Helios had... talons. Yeah.)

I imagine Tobias standing about 5 inches below Eclipse's shoulder level, and Sol being slightly taller than her. I envisioned Kapok being large enough that Tobias's head is just above where his forearm joint is, and Dred always seemed about the same size as Kapok to me. Moonslayer (FYI, the Nightwing leader Eclipse killed) was generally about as large as Moroseer, so probably twice Shrike's size. Alicanto was about Eclipse's size, maybe a tiny bit smaller, and Shard is probably only the size of a large horse. I picture Sunspot standing eye level with Eclipse, but being a little bit more light-weight, since she's a Solarwing. Whitestar is only slightly larger than Eclipse, logically, and I picture Apple and Bamboo being a bit smaller than him. Neoma is smaller than Eclipse and Sunspot, and I think Blackout is taller than Whitestar.

idk if this helps with proportions at all, I am just trying to portray it through my imagination. I did notice the proportions seemed off for some characters.

Well, for the record, Tobias is 5... 6, so on the shorted scale. He'd barely top the withers of an average quarter horse, most definitely far from a 'large horse', so Shard's kinda huge, bro.
