Of Feathers And Flames- A Wings of Fire AU RP

Sunspot flicked her wings. “You looking for someone in particular?” The golden dragon narrowed her eyes.
"Possibly..." Eclipse said slowly, lightly.
Definitely not someone I seriously want revenge on, she thought darkly.
"I mean, unless that's too much for you," she added testingly, cocking her head. "I could always find another way for you to pay me back."

“Mmm,” the SolarWing said thoughtfully, examining a wing claw casually.
“I’m down.” She was confident she had the moon dragon right where she wanted her. She owed the silver dragon, yes, but she had an idea that Sunspot was majorly useful to her, and Sunspot could take advantage of that.

“So, who’s the jerk?”

“She’s fine.” Corvus said firmly. “She just spontaneously combusts sometimes, don’t worry about it.”

Phoenix crept forward, a curious light in her eyes. “Nests?” she asked. “Like… societies for CloudWings? That’s a thing?”
King raised an eyebrow when the black and purple dragon spoke, it didn’t sound normal for a cloudwing to spontaneously combust. He looked at the burning dragon and stepped back once out of instinct as she crept forward. “Um, yes. We have them all over the continent. Can you….can you control your….fire feathers? I don’t think we could let you near The Grebes Nest if you’re going to catch it on fire….. though we have a camp on the mountainside in the same valley, you could stay there. You shouldn’t be out here, the humans are scouring the mountain.” He said seriously. “Who are you two anyway?” He asked.
Bluegill poked his head out of kings talons and cocked his head at the new dragons.

Neoma woke up, wincing slightly as she stood and stretched. The unfortunate plunge into the water the previous day had left her a bit achy- and starving.
Her belly growled as she stepped outside her little cave and looked out over the water. Would she spend the day more in the forest or over the water? She had been here so long there was nothing new to discover, but there was always some new exercise to do if she thought hard enough.
She had been training for physical fights a lot lately.
A small smile crossed her face.
The white dots on the side of her face seemed to give off a soft glow, and out of each one a stream of silver-like liquid began forming. The liquid fell and gathered in a large puddle beneath her. Then, commanded by her mind, the puddle formed a not-quite-solid ball and rose in the air, hovering in front of her.
Time to practice her warping.
She flapped her wings and took to the air, flying close to the water's edge. Her left wing pointed to the poison jungle as she headed towards the point of the dragon's lower jaw of the continent.
The silvery liquid streaming along beside her shimmered and bubbled, taking on the form of a long sharp blade, with no hilt. sharp at either end, it was a deadly weapon and one of Neoma's favorite things to warp it into.
As she flew low over the water, she commanded the blade to plunge into the water. It did, and as it quickly popped back out, A couple of wriggling fish were speared on the tip.
While most dragons didn't seem to care for the taste of seafood, Neoma had lived there so long and been so hungry sometimes that it wasn't about what she preferred. She scarfed down the food and caught some more, thanking the moons that she was able to warp this way. She'd have starved long ago like her parents if she hadn't known how to control it. If only her mother and father had practiced it enough- She shook her head and wheeled around, heading for the jungle where she could sit in the trees and practice spearing leaves through with small warp-needles.
Neoma was flying over the water again, the fog was starting to lift and the edge of the other island was just visible. Having done already so much practicing, Neoma huffed to herself as she realized she didn’t have a valid reason not to go over there. It had been about seven years of living on her own and she had always come up with a reason not to go. From what she could see, it was just a small island right? Wheeling around, she grumbled to herself.
But inside, barely daring to admit it to herself, she was kind of excited. She hadn’t gotten to explore something new in a very long time.
She flapped her wings and pushed herself. If she was going to go somewhere, at least she could have some fun with it right?

Corvus cocked his head at the little fish-like dragon. “Hmm.”

Phoenix let out a little cough. “Control it? Not really,” she said awkwardly, holding out one smoking talon. A few rogue flames flared on her clawtips, flaring tall and then sputtering out with a shower of sparks. She cringed. “Sorry.”
She tucked her tail over her talons, hunching her wings.

Corvus’ head snapped up, jade green eyes wide. “But it’ll be fine!” He said eagerly. “We want to come with you.”

“We?” Phoenix questioned. “Maybe we’re better off staying here…”

King was quite for a second, watching the two. “You should. We might need someone like you, and an extra survivor is always a help.” He said, glancing from the fire feathered dragon to the raven like one. “What’re your names?”

Bluegill was staring at the fiery dragoness with wide eyes, an amazed look on his face.

“Corvus,” Corvus said, extending a talon. Phoenix noticed the little RiverWing looking and gave him a little wave and a smile.
“And this is Phoenix,” Corvus said, extending one wing to hover protectively over her.

King shook his talon, Corvus’s was much smaller and more pristine and clean. He instinctively reached for phoenix’s talon but pulled back as he realized he didn’t want his hand singed.
Instead he dipped his head politely. “Good to meet ya.” He said. “We better git before the humans see us, they’re actually smarter than they look. Follow me and….don’t touch anything wooden, sorry.”

Despite her suspicion at the Solarwing's sudden change of tone, Eclipse stood up and began pacing up the rise toward the tunnel. She gestured with one wing for the dragon to follow.
"Actually one of the Nightwings you were "handling"," she replied with a note of sarcasm. "The only one that was smart enough to retreat"
She figured it was better not to mention it was actually the only one that escaped.
"I figure he will be back with reinforcements to retrieve his hunt soon--if they are not there already. You will make a perfect distraction, and all I have to do is slit the lizards through. No problem--easy in, easy out."

She flapped her wings and pushed herself. If she was going to go somewhere, at least she could have some fun with it right?
Neoma sped over the water. Her ears lay flat and her eyelids sat half-closed to shield her eyes from the salty spray. Though she was slightly smaller than most, she was faster than she appeared.
Her wings were beginning to burn slightly with the speed she was going, but she knew that the faster she went and the harder she pushed herself, the better it would feel to rest on the island. To keep up her strength, she quickly used her warped blade to spear up some more fish and ate them as she went. The overwhelming salty taste was starting to get a bit annoying and she looked forward to when she'd be able to land on the island and find a good water source.
Except for a problem- the island seemed to be growing.
The sun was beginning to set as Neoma reached the edge and landed softly. Her muscles groaned with tiredness. She was even more grateful for the fish she had eaten on the way.
That's when she registered where she was and what was around her.
She was surrounded by ice and some sort of white powder.
This white powder around her was freezing cold. Wha- oh, right- Snow!
Her parents told tale of it when she was younger, but in the poison jungle, there was no such thing!
Her talons began feeling a prick of pain as the cold pierced through her. She shivered slightly. The sun was setting and she was stuck in a cold land; While she wasn't built specifically for a warm or cold setting, she was more used to the warmth.
She couldn't turn around and go back, it was too late and she was too tired. Standing at the edge of the icy water, she saw a forest nearby. If she could shelter in there for the night, she would be able to hunker down and maybe a large tree could cut the wind.
She stretched her wings, and- "OW!"
Neoma yanked her wings back to her sides. It had been a while since she had pushed herself that hard, and her left wing felt a familiar pain that she had experienced before. Spraining a wing was never fun, but when you make it your purpose to practice and exercise, it became something you just had to deal with.
Neoma growled irritably. She was going to get to the trees before sleeping though.
She began to walk- and then stopped.
Raising a taloned hand, she flicked the white powder. It sprang into the air, and drifted down lazily. A tiny tired smile spread across her snout. She looked behind her and flicked her tail, and the powder scurried across the ground. She looked up and watched as more fell from the sky.
The snow was like falling stars against the darkening sky above her. She opened her jaw and caught a snowflake on her tongue. It felt like frozen fire and melted immediately.
Neoma shook her head, snorting. Her tail lashed back and forth, and her head sternly told her to get to the trees.
But for the first time in ages, her heart told her head to shut up.
She jumped straight up and spun around, biting at the snow on the ground. Flakes stuck to her snout, and she sneezed. Her eyes crossed to stare at an unmelted crystal on her nose, and she excitedly stomped in the snow. Her right wing scooped up the snow and flung it straight up, and she whooped in delight as it showered over her back.
She flopped on her side, wriggling back and forth, and then sprung up again, looking at her imprint. She laughed out loud for the first time in a long time, then snapped at the snow falling, spinning to catch as much as she could.
She stopped and stood there panting, tail still lashing from the excitement.
Her sides heaved and her lungs burned, but she hadn't had so much fun in- well, since she was a dragonet.
Her mood lifted tremendously, she raced for the forest and found a large tree at which she cleared the snow from around the trunk and lay down, curling up and laying the tip of her tail over her nose. She sighed contentedly, and was asleep in seconds, with dreams swirling around in her mind like the snow softly dancing around her.
