It felt crazy, trying to recruit two Lunarwings and a Solarwing he’d just met, but with their warping Helios was sure they could break into the SD much easier. Helios glanced at Sunspot as she spoke, then toward the hovering Lunarwing, Eclipse apparently. “ Well she’s a ray of sunshine isn’t she.” He thought, trying to ignore Sunspot. It took the Lunarwing what felt like an eternity to answer, but then she did and he didn’t know what to say. Helios glanced in the direction of the Scorpion Den and nodded his head slowly. “Twenty four hours. I can do that.” He said determinedly, relief sweeping over him. It seemed that Eclipse wanted to help, or wanted his help at the very least. She just wasn’t the type to ask for it.
Then the other Lunarwing spoke, he hadn’t caught her name.

“What’s in it for me?” She said, continuing speaking for a moment.

Helios flicked his tail, sending a small avalanche of sand cascading down the dune he stood on. “I told you, information. If you don’t want that…I suppose I could help you with your mission as well.” He replied. The three dragon stood or hovered around him, all thinking about there own plans and futures, but it seemed their paths had crossed for a reason and they weren’t meant to separate just yet.
Sunspot narrowed her eyes. Plans were quickly getting out of her control. “What exactly does this “recruitment” entail?” She questioned Helios. “I could totally just dip and leave if I wanted to and none of you would be able to stop me.”
“But you won’t. You seem smart enough to know that this plan CAN work. It will work.” He said as he turned to her, his eyes glowing with hope and determination. His scales pulsed and the starburst patterns flared up. “it has to.” He thought.
Sunspot watched him for a few more moments, searching his eyes and body language for any signs of conniving behavior. She sighed. Helios seemed genuinely convinced this was an amazing idea.

“Fine.” Sunspot said bluntly. “I’m down to go and scorch that entire city to the ground, IF these two go as well.” She gestured at Eclipse and Neoma.
Neoma sat silently now, listening to what the others were saying. She had said her piece, and had a lot to consider. If she went along with them, then there was more chance of her mission being completed... and yet also more risk. It could mean more chances of betrayal.
Neoma sighed softly. She knew what she was going to choose, and she wasn't sure how she felt about it.
She saw Sunspot gesture to her, and slowly, she nodded. She would accompany them and do what it took.
"I'm with you. But I want help with hunting my sister down."
Alyssia tore through the sandy dunes. Clouds of sand being spewed behind her. Sweat dripped down her back as she maxed out her speed. The wind tore at her face and she squinted, attempting to block the wind from her eyes. The sun beat on her and began to scorch her exposed arms. She smiled, it almost felt like she was back on the sea with her jet ski.
Great, now what do I do? She spun her head around for a seconds to try and see how many nightwings were still following her. She made out 5 silhouettes against the clear blue sky. Some must've left. She brought out her gun again and did one last quick look back. Judging where they were, she lifted the gun to approximately where she saw one and fired. Thunder rang through the air. Another shot. And another shot. Another quick look back told her that she had missed completely. Note to self: practice marksmanship. She focused back on the road in front of her and tried to speed up more. The bike resisted and she was stuck at her speed. Fear gripped her as she saw shadows begin creeping towards her as they were gaining on her.
Over her shoulder, she could see a NightWing swooping in on her. Alright, let's bring out the big boys. She reached for one of the three grenades she had taken in the compartments on her bike and she waited with the pin held in her mouth. The shadow closed in on her and she finally pulled, the pin sliding easily out. She threw the grenade backwards and hoped that she had hit something. Another crack of thunder and she heard a large roar. Smoke filled the air behind her and she turned to see a black figure fall out of the smoky cloud. It hit the sand sending up a large cloud of sand.
Suddenly, two Nightwings swooped at once. Her hopes dropped. Blasted dragons! She turned her gaze back towards the sand, scanning for a way to lose them. All she could see was open sand dunes for miles and miles. Not good.
She was tearing through the sand between sand hills that were like walls around her. Trapped. The dragons were closing in. She took one last desperate look at the walls around her. Wait, these look familiar. Recognition dawned on her.
Waves! They look like waves!!!
She grinned. Her confidence boosted as she turned her bike towards the sandy waves. Bracing for impact, she slowed a little and lifted the front of her bike as she got to the incline like she had done dozens of times on her jet ski. The familiarity gave her confidence back and she began to forget about the dragons behind her. It's just me and the sea. She felt her wheel slip and she quickly corrected herself. She was almost to the ridge of the wave. The shadow of the black dragon coming closer once again. She could see the talon reaching out for her.
Then she hit the gas as hard as she could. The bike returned to its previous high speed and she leapt over the ridge, her bike catching some air. She then grabbed another grenade and let it loose behind her, not looking back.
She sped on the other side of the wave. Now high up, she scanned everywhere around her and saw thousands of sand dunes but nothing else.
She heard a roar behind her and looked back to see the black dragons retreating back the way they came. Relief swept over her. Looks like they finally got tired of chasing me. She looked back and grinned. But the grin was soon replaced by fear as she saw figures ahead of her. "Oh great, more dragons." she said dreadfully. She tried to swerve away from them so she wouldn't hit them, but they were coming in fast. She didn't want to stop, though, because they could be enemies.
She looked closer as they were speedily coming closer to her. Is that different colors? Silver caught her eyes and she slowed down a little to give herself a moment to see for sure. She angled her bike slightly towards a sandy wave to go around the dragons and began her climb up it. The hum of her engine still going. She looked at them, half expecting them to turn around at hearing her. She couldn't make out if they could hear her though. She looked closer at the different dragon's colors as she got closer.
Suddenly, the sand underneath her slipped and her bike sent sideways. The bike went one way and she went the other. She flew off the bike and into the rough sand. The bike spiraled down the sand dune and she slid and rolled down the rocky sand towards the bottom. At the bottom, exhaustion began to take over her. She laid there, just wanting to rest. Alyssia forced her eyes open, but wanted to close them immediately.
The dragons were standing right there.
Oh great.
Neoma heard a sound in the background, and looked around over her shoulder, jumping backward as a bike with a human came speeding over the sand, landing on it's side and the human went sprawling. As all of the dragons stared, the human raised her head and stared.
Neoma broke the silence.
"Well I'm more of a seafood dragon myself- dibs anyone?"

"Well I'm more of a seafood dragon myself- dibs anyone?"
I died while writing that last line HAHAHAHAHA

Neoma listened, staying silent. It kept sounding more and more like a conversation the others should have. But as she heard more, her jaw clenched tighter and she bit back a growl.
How was it only a few days ago that she was enjoying snow for the first time? Now she was sitting in blazing hot sand, listening to a group of dragons she didn't know discuss the fates of their missions.
Sand under her scales began to itch, and she squirmed.
A breeze was blowing slightly into her face, causing her eyes to dry out and hurt.
Her leg was sore and her head was beginning to pound again.
She wasn't used to going so long without water, especially in the sun like this, and her throat was dry.
Neoma was feeling overwhelmed by all the small things piling up, and before she could stop it, a small snarl crawled out of her throat.
She bit it back again, hoping no one had heard it. With their talking and how quiet it was, she assumed no one had.
Neoma took a deep breath and as calmly as she could, stated a question that would determine her next actions;
"What's in it for me?"
She paused briefly and continued.
"Whatever I do, there has to be something in it for me. We each have our own personal missions. Our own revenge to exact, something that we need to make happen. I personally feel for Helios here, because I can relate to a family issue more than other situations. I want to help you others get the justice you may deserve, but I'm not giving mine up either."
Neoma glanced at Eclipse. She didn't want to part ways with another Lunarwing, but every moment that passed made Neoma feel as though she was somehow closer and yet further from finding Milza.
Neoma took a deep breath. She didn't feel as lousy now that she had said what she had to say, but she still felt slightly troubled. She couldn't figure it out, but something in her mind told her that she was going to have to make a sacrifice if she decided to stay with any other dragon.
And suddenly, everything in her head snapped into place:
It was either stay with others and risk not getting her revenge due to working with them, or go on her own and risk all the dangers of being alone in a place she didn't know.
Neoma sighed inwardly, but not an unhappy sigh- one of relief that she knew her choices now. Of course, she still had to make her choice; but this was so much clearer now.
All these thoughts swept through Neoma's mind almost at the speed of light, and she realized she was still waiting for an answer from the others. She blinked, not having realized she was thinking so fast, and listened intently for a response.

Eclipse rubbed her temples with a frustrated growl. She couldn't raid the Scorpion Den this instant. But she also wasn't sure how to make Helios and the girls wait. It was like trying to fly with three different dragons pulling your wings in different directions. She felt like she couldn't get a word in edge-wise. Neoma seemed like she was seconds away from hopping up and flying away. Helios practically wanted to go jump into a pit of Dragonbite Vipers and drag the rest of them with him. And Sunspot...
Stars only know what was going on in that dragon's head. It was like she was loyal to all of them at once, and at the same time, waiting to stab them all in the back.
"Alright, alright," She said closing her eyes for a moment. She was starting to get a headache from all the arguing and planning and overthinking. "Listen I am willing to help all of you, but not at the expense of my own plans."
She turned toward Helios first. "Give me twenty-four hours. Give or take a few, we will meet you at the stronghold ruins northeast of here. We can leave at nightfall and be at the scorpion den before midnight tomorrow."
She turned toward Neoma. "It's not my choice where you chose to go or what you do. Honestly, I would rather stick with you for the time being, as I could use your help in this adventure. But again, not my choice. If you want to go chase your psychotic sister, you can. I won't stop you. But I am willing to help you if you can help me first."
Finally, Eclipse turned toward Sunspot. "You can stay with Helios for now if you want, or come with me. As long as we meet up again tomorrow at the ruins. Don't forget--you still owe me. But it's your choice where you go up until we actually start this mission."
She let her gaze travel over the three of them.
"Any objections?"
Before any of them could respond, an irritating buzzing noise rang over the dune. A human appeared on a strange machine that looked a little like a two-legged horse... kinda. The creature swerved at the site of them, and its ride went half sliding half tumbling down the sandy drop. Eclipse started blankly at it for a second blinking as if it might disappear any moment.
"Well, I'm more of a seafood dragon myself," Neoma said, surprisingly relaxed. "Dibs anyone"
Eclipse thought she was gonna be sick. The creature was scrawny and bald, all except for the patch on the top of its head, where fur fell in long strands down its back. It looked somewhat wet a clammy from sweat, giving it an odd shiny texture. And it was staring at them with eyes that looked too dragon-like to be real. It was like something out of a nightmare.
She gagged at Neoma's comment and looked away landing back in the sand to rest and calm her churning stomach.
"Gross--No. That is... disgusting."

Alyssia's muscles ached as she tried to move them. "I can't just lay here and let them get me," she muttered to herself. She looked all of them over while trying to get to her feet. Two silver dragons stood defensively. Next to them stood a smaller orange dragon. Her confidence dropped more when she saw the huge orange dragon standing proudly behind them. She got to her feet and stared at them, shocked at their size. She'd seen some seawings in her life, but she always knew that they were kind. There was also always someone to watch over the kids as they looked at the dragons. Now that she was alone looking at dragons that were staring right at her, she felt very puny and vulnerable. She heard the dragons muttering things to each other, and she caught a couple of the words. It took her a second but she racked her brain for some of the translations to the words they were saying. She picked up "seafood" "like" "dibs" and "gross". She shuddered imagining what they were talking about. She really didn't feel like being anyone's lunch today. No Alyssia, you're gonna get out of this. Now, you obviously can't take all of them. Buuut, maybe they can help you. Seawings are nice, so maybe it's just those other dragons that are mean and these dragons are also nice. With her confidence bolstered just a little, she stumbled over closer to the dragons and took a deep breath. Trying desperately to keep her voice from shaking, she let out the breath slowly.
She pulled out all the dragonese she could muster and tried to talk to them, "Hi dragons, I...human. Where are we? What you do here?"

“Sure,” Phoenix said, standing up. “Maybe I’ll give it another shot if you show me how so I don’t make a complete fool of myself again.” She gave a slight smile.
King laughed and could feel himself returning to his normal mood, slowly but surely. “Probably better teach you to use your talons instead of diving, since your feathers aren’t hydrophobic. Ever seen an eagle do it?” He asked, opening his wings and flying a tight circle around them both before going out on the lake just enough so the fish still hung around the shallow parts and he could still hear them respond. “You don’t wanna go too far out, cuz the fish’ll just swim deeper so you can’t grab em with your claws.” He then soared back along the beach for a short distance and picked up a small log, returning and promptly tossing it into the lake where he’d been before. “Now fly out a ways and let the fish come up to search the surface for bugs. Once they have, you swoop in like this..” he said, getting into an angled dive just above the waters surface and extending his back talons out with claws wide. “Then ya snatch em!” He said enthusiastically as his talons reached out and curled around the log then was in place of a fish. “Haha! Just like that! Except of course with a real fish, but you can practice with a log or stick or whatever! Osprey taught me that one.” He said happily, his smile infectious.

Kapok lifted Shrike up off the ground by his wing shoulders, glaring at Sol. We watched them converse for a moment before charging the Solarwing, beating his large wings at his face and slashing out repeatedly with his claws.

Sol hissed, feeling the claws dig into his scales.
He retreated, lunging for the wall and using it to his advantage, throwing himself at the LeafWing.
He smashed into the green dragon, fighting to pin him as any aching burn filled his throat.
This fight was meant to be pre-games for tonight- he wouldn't be competing, but it was the SandWing rally where all was let loose- fire, poison, teeth, claws.
Sol was meant to win this fight with brute force, while the other dragons were free to fight however they desired, though, fire was not permitted in the open arena. Only Sol could use fire, and even then, he had to be VERY careful.
Five minutes had passed, the crowd was growing restless.
A spark seemed to ignite in Sol's chest, flames flickering up his throat.
He let loose the fire, engulfing the LeafWing in a hideous blaze.

(Aaaaand maybe we skip to them 'recovering' so that Tobias and Sol can have a liddle chattt?)

Sure lol. Also, Kapok is light brown, not green. I read that Leafwings can be shades of brown as well

Shrike lay with his head on his talons, staring sullenly at the vendor across from him.
In the cage.
Again.
His neck and body ached and he was sure his chin was still bleeding. “Why’d you gotta do that last little attack, huh Kapok?” He knew the LeafWing had to be in pain from Sol’s flames. Shrike huffed and shook his head, looking over at him. “You- you okay buddy?”

As Sol sauntered down the hallway, he quicky noticed the extreme pain in his shoulder.
Tobias hadn't said anything yet, but was slowly gaining on him.
Perhaps the LeafWing had done more then just drawn blood..
"Yeesh. You're limping, bud."
Sol stopped, giving Tobias a stupid look. "No way, Sherlock."
"Lemme see it."
Sol growled softly, lowering himself so that Tobias could inspect the wound.
He had barely glanced at the injury before Tobias said, "I'm taking you out."
"WHAT?"
Tobias raised his eyebrows and cocked his head, raising a finger to his lips.
"What do you mean, 'I'm taking you out'?" Sol hissed, lowering his voice.
Tobias held his expression, "We'll talk- on our way the the infirmary."
"INFIRMA- now look here, Tobe-"
"Sol! Sol, Sol, Sol, Sol, Sssol." Tobias leaned closer to the dragon, his eyes wide, "Shut up. Shut up, buddy."

A fracture. A very small facture. That was it.
And Tobias still wanted to take him out.
Sol followed Tobias out of the Infirmary, keeping his wing stiff and showing no sign of injury, though his shoulder did send a shooting pain throughout his wing with every step.
Tobias had answered his questions vaguely as a medic inspected his shoulder- but now they were leaving the Infirmary, and, gosh, Sol certainly hoped his questions would get a real answer.
"K, Tobias," Sol started, not bothering to hide his annoyance, "why am I out? Really, why?"
"Cuz, your gonna be training for the next two weeks- and you need to save energy." Tobias gave him a sly grin.
"Two weeks..- what? What's in two weeks?"
Tobias sighed, "Uhm.. Teams are starting up."
Sol hesitated. "Teams? Teams as in dragon teams- right? I don't have a team, right?"
"Dude, chill out."
Sol stopped mid-step. "You did not."
Tobias arched his brow, smiling gently, "I didn't what?"
Sol groaned.
"Did you see how the LeafWing and CloudWing fought so well together? You don't see that when you just throw dragons together. They all fight, and then team in desperation."
"You did not."
Tobias laughed. "Dirt cheap, bro."
"NOuughhh. NOT COOL, Tobe. Not. Cool."
"Yeah, except for the part where it is," Tobias turned sharply, punching in the code to their room and ushering Sol inside, following behind the dragon. "I bought a MudWing, too. Might be a hybrid, no biggie. I think I got us a team in the making."
"Four years. You traitor."
"Dude." Tobias snorted, holding his hands up defensively. "I'm not replacing you. Not at all." He sighed. "But I need you to be on board, Cuz. I don't know enough Dragon-"
"No, just.. no, they all hate me. I don't care, but, like, no one's gonna listen."
"Bud, just try it out."
Sol clenched his jaw.
Tobias gave him an expectant look.
"Alright! Fine. Whatever. Jus get the stupid dragons, and I'll help. They won't listen. But I'll help."
