Of Feathers And Flames- A Wings of Fire AU RP

Shrike’s head lifted. “What?” He said, a brow lifted. “Who asked you, MudWing? You think I got much on me to ‘destroy my enemies with’? Pff.” He swept his feathered tail around to the opposite side of his body restlessly.
Kapok lifted his head and glared across at the large Mudwing with a quiet growl.

(Just the dynamic with these three... I dig it.)

Tobias had all three dragons moved to his lot.
A Leafwing, a CloudWing, and a MudWing.
The LeafWing and CloudWing seemed to get along fine- though they had yet to have been paired with the MudWing- hopefully that would go over well.

The night went by slowly. Tobias didn't leave their room until morning, which was highly unusual. He had gone over a few rough plan ideas aloud to Sol.
Sol had listened kindly. But quickly spoke his mind once Tobias had finished.
After a tense early-morning, Tobias left to inspect the new dragons. Sol had suggested he go alone to avoid as much drama as possible.

It had been a while since Tobias had last seen his lot. It was a huge cement area, bright industrial lights chased every last shadow from the room.
He still paid rent for the space- though he hadn't used it for dragons in years. Occasionally he'd rent it out to a pal, or use it as temporary storage. It was one of the biggest lots in the Scorpion Den, and he was lucky to have it.
In the center of the space sat three, small cages.
Tobias stood in the doorway, his hand still on he light switch.
He had grown so accustom to these ridiculously small cages, but he still doubted any dragon could last long in such an incredibly small space.
From what he could see behind the cage bars, the CloudWing was small, smaller than he had excepted- previously he had been viewing the fight from above, but now he could see the dragons on his level.
The LeafWing was tall, dirty sage scales flecking his brown body.
The MudWing was burly and quite massive. They needed muscle. He should be perfect.
Tobias smiled gently.
"Are you hungry?" He questioned, speaking the little Dragon he knew as he closed the door behind him, walking slowly towards a large freezer spanning the wall in different sections, his every move echoing loudly throughout the lot.

Sunspot rolled her eyes at the drama of the whole situation. "Alright then, lets go! The sun will go out before you lazy-tails quit gravely muttering and arguing and bickering and gazing wistfully out at the horizon." she stomped her feet irritably, kicking the sand off. She took to the air and began spiraling over the group.

"Okay," Phoenix said, leaping into the air and accidentially wacking Corvus in the snout. "Ow!" the black dragon yelped, jumping back.

"Sorry," Phoenix called back, not looking back at him. Corvus watched, his snout and heart stinging as Phoenix joined King in the air, watching him yammer about angles and flight speed and trajectory and fish habitats. Phoenix was smiling at King and had just- what- smacked Corvus in the face and left him there?

Did Phoenix like King better than him? Corvus' mind raced, and he began to fidget with his claws. What if she left Corvus alone in favor of a better, shinier dragon?

"Screw this," he muttered, turning around and taking off, flying hard and fast. See if she even cares.
Helios stared down at the little human, then to Sunspot and back to the human. “Why is it just….laying there. I would think it would be terrified by now.” He said, confused. He slunk closer, his long neck resembling a serpent. He kept his mouth open just slightly, making sure the human could see his massive fangs. “It looks exhausted….” He said with a hint of worry. Suddenly Helios leapt upwards, his eyes scanning the horizon as soon as he got above the dunes. Small black specks, growing larger as time went on, could be seen in the distance. “Nightwings…coming our way. We have to move, NOW.”

King was happy to help Phoenix learn to fish, but Corvus didn’t seem to want anything to do with it. He turned as Corvus flew off, glancing at Phoenix. “Ohhh boy, you might wanna see if he’s ok…”

“Mudwing? You don’t even know my name? We’ve been across from each other for weeks.” He said in disbelief, moving his wings and poking his head out to look at the two of them. “You have claws. And teeth. And….well only those two.”

(YO WHAT DID I MISS I DINT RECALL THERE BEING NO HUMAN-)

Neoma sat silently now, listening to what the others were saying. She had said her piece, and had a lot to consider. If she went along with them, then there was more chance of her mission being completed... and yet also more risk. It could mean more chances of betrayal.
Neoma sighed softly. She knew what she was going to choose, and she wasn't sure how she felt about it.
She saw Sunspot gesture to her, and slowly, she nodded. She would accompany them and do what it took.
"I'm with you. But I want help with hunting my sister down."

Neoma heard a sound in the background, and looked around over her shoulder, jumping backward as a bike with a human came speeding over the sand, landing on it's side and the human went sprawling. As all of the dragons stared, the human raised her head and stared.
Neoma broke the silence.
"Well I'm more of a seafood dragon myself- dibs anyone?"
Eclipse rubbed her temples with a frustrated growl. She couldn't raid the Scorpion Den this instant. But she also wasn't sure how to make Helios and the girls wait. It was like trying to fly with three different dragons pulling your wings in different directions. She felt like she couldn't get a word in edge-wise. Neoma seemed like she was seconds away from hopping up and flying away. Helios practically wanted to go jump into a pit of Dragonbite Vipers and drag the rest of them with him. And Sunspot...
Stars only know what was going on in that dragon's head. It was like she was loyal to all of them at once, and at the same time, waiting to stab them all in the back.
"Alright, alright," She said closing her eyes for a moment. She was starting to get a headache from all the arguing and planning and overthinking. "Listen I am willing to help all of you, but not at the expense of my own plans."
She turned toward Helios first. "Give me twenty-four hours. Give or take a few, we will meet you at the stronghold ruins northeast of here. We can leave at nightfall and be at the scorpion den before midnight tomorrow."
She turned toward Neoma. "It's not my choice where you chose to go or what you do. Honestly, I would rather stick with you for the time being, as I could use your help in this adventure. But again, not my choice. If you want to go chase your psychotic sister, you can. I won't stop you. But I am willing to help you if you can help me first."
Finally, Eclipse turned toward Sunspot. "You can stay with Helios for now if you want, or come with me. As long as we meet up again tomorrow at the ruins. Don't forget--you still owe me. But it's your choice where you go up until we actually start this mission."
She let her gaze travel over the three of them.
"Any objections?"
Before any of them could respond, an irritating buzzing noise rang over the dune. A human appeared on a strange machine that looked a little like a two-legged horse... kinda. The creature swerved at the site of them, and its ride went half sliding half tumbling down the sandy drop. Eclipse started blankly at it for a second blinking as if it might disappear any moment.
"Well, I'm more of a seafood dragon myself," Neoma said, surprisingly relaxed. "Dibs anyone"
Eclipse thought she was gonna be sick. The creature was scrawny and bald, all except for the patch on the top of its head, where fur fell in long strands down its back. It looked somewhat wet a clammy from sweat, giving it an odd shiny texture. And it was staring at them with eyes that looked too dragon-like to be real. It was like something out of a nightmare.
She gagged at Neoma's comment and looked away landing back in the sand to rest and calm her churning stomach.
"Gross--No. That is... disgusting."
Alyssia's muscles ached as she tried to move them. "I can't just lay here and let them get me," she muttered to herself. She looked all of them over while trying to get to her feet. Two silver dragons stood defensively. Next to them stood a smaller orange dragon. Her confidence dropped more when she saw the huge orange dragon standing proudly behind them. She got to her feet and stared at them, shocked at their size. She'd seen some seawings in her life, but she always knew that they were kind. There was also always someone to watch over the kids as they looked at the dragons. Now that she was alone looking at dragons that were staring right at her, she felt very puny and vulnerable. She heard the dragons muttering things to each other, and she caught a couple of the words. It took her a second but she racked her brain for some of the translations to the words they were saying. She picked up "seafood" "like" "dibs" and "gross". She shuddered imagining what they were talking about. She really didn't feel like being anyone's lunch today. No Alyssia, you're gonna get out of this. Now, you obviously can't take all of them. Buuut, maybe they can help you. Seawings are nice, so maybe it's just those other dragons that are mean and these dragons are also nice. With her confidence bolstered just a little, she stumbled over closer to the dragons and took a deep breath. Trying desperately to keep her voice from shaking, she let out the breath slowly.
She pulled out all the dragonese she could muster and tried to talk to them, "Hi dragons, I...human. Where are we? What you do here?"
Here @-Kiwi- lol, Alyssia crashed her bike right beneath their noses and led a whole Nightwing patrol to them.

Yo, if they get captured and go to SD, that would be one SICK escape scene. 😏🔥🔥

What the... humans can actually talk?! Eclipse's eyes widened at the little creature, but before she could react, Helios lept into the air and then barked a warning at the rest of them.
Eclipse jolted, her head snapping up in the direction Helios was looking. Sure enough, as she lept up and began climbing into the air, she could see the black shapes pounding toward them. Nearly a dozen if she had to guess, all from the direction of the Scorpion Den. Stars above, how did I not see them? Her mind whirled as she tried to control her panic. There was no way they could fight them all. Neoma could barely take on one dragon, and Sunspot had already proven she couldn't handle so many Nightwings at once. Eclipse didn't know how well Helios could fight, but he was older and slower than the other three. Eclipse could fight maybe three, but she was better if she had the element of surprise. She was an assassin, not a super warrior. There was no way they could fight their way out. They would have to run. But where? They couldn't go back to the tunnel. It was too far, and at the angle they would need to fly, the Nightwings would intercept them. They could head in the direction of the Ice Kingdom, but the terrain would quickly turn to rock and then ice. If the Nightwings didn't give up their chase by then, they would have to turn again toward the coast to avoid freezing to death. And they couldn't fly that way forever. They would be exhausted by the time they reached the shore, and without time to stop and rest, they would be forced overseas. Even if the Nightwings didn't follow them all the way out there, they would eventually be too tired to fly, and one by one, they would drop from exhaustion. There were hardly any forests near the Ice Kingdom to hide in. The only direction they could fly was toward the Sky Kingdom. But that was the opposite direction Eclipse needed to go. There was no way they could fly that far out and still have time and energy to retrace all the way back and then continue on to the ocean. But what choice did she have?
I'm so sorry, she thought miserably, her talon closing over the onyx on her neckband, before she turned sharply to look at the others, regaining her composure.
"We can't out fly them if we continue west," she said quickly, turning toward the others. "We will have to head further inland, toward the mountains. There is more room to fly and hide and the climate is more agreeable. But we have to leave now." She shot a glance over her shoulder at the approaching patrol, now close enough to make out the shape of the Nightwings better. Eclipse cocked her head down at the human still standing on the dune, before sheathing her dagger and swooping down to snatch the scavenger up in her claws. The creature let out a shriek as she did, but Eclipse ignored it, turning to fly in the direction of the Sky Kingdom with once last sullen glance back toward the western horizon.

Kapok watched the human strut across the room expectantly, distracting him from the burning in his scales. He strained his neck to watch him. His stomach rumbled at the idea of food, and his tail twitched anxiously.

(I think we’re skipping to the morning, but I’ll just answer this real quick.)

“Do I look like I care what your name is?” Shrike huffed, and stood up stiffly to turn his back on the dragon when Shane walked over and slammed on his cage. The CloudWing tried not to jump in fright. “FINALLY sold you, you useless featherbag.” He said gallantly, though Shrike hardly understood a word of what he’d said. “You two as well.” The burly man said, looking between Kapok and Dred. “And at a pretty good price too!”
“Dang it, what’s happening?” Shrike growled, and an hour later, they’d been moved by Shane’s crew to a large, empty room. Escape impossible now.

Shrike had been sulking in his cage when Tobias walked in. His feathers raised at the man’s rough Dragon; so this was his new.. ‘person who paid to take personal responsibility for him and yes technically was his owner Shrike didn’t want to call him that.’
“That’s a nice little act you got goin on there.” The CloudWing griped, not sure if Tobias could understand him or not. He thought for a moment. “A actor,” he said in English, “you are an actor. A bad actor.”

Sunspot had already burst into flames and she looked around at the chaos. “WHAT IS HAPPENING.” She yelled, circling higher to get a better look at the NightWing’s approaching. She spotted Eclipse snatch up the little human and dove down to her. “WHY ARE WE TAKING THE LUNCH WITH US?? A snack for later??? PUT IT BACK you’re gonna get us all killed! They’re probably searching for her or something and they’ll never let us go!”

Everyone looked VERY UPSET and Subspot was not having it.

“Quit flapping around and being stupid!” She yelled, flames licking around her scales and angry smoke rising. “There’s four of us, all of us with abilities NightWings don’t have, we should go and take the fight to them instead of running like COWARDS.” She looped off in the direction of the hunters, looking back to see if the others will follow.
