Of Feathers And Flames- A Wings of Fire AU RP

Helios was examined by the strange doctor who could speak fluent Dragonese, not saying much as the questions rambled on and on and on.
“Are you really the King of the Solarwings? Oh it’s just so exciting! Isn’t it? I get to study you, a real Solarwing! How old are you? No, wait! Let me guess, your scales might tell me! Hmmm…I’d say, no, well, wait …maybe….around sixty? Most likely, your scale growth indicates a high level of keratin, seen in the oldest of dragons! Though, you’re very fit for such an ancient beast. Oh you’re not offended by that are you?!” He rambled so quickly Helios could barely make out anything.
“Why am I here? And w-what are you doing to me?!” He asked, lifting his head and trying to unfurl his wings, but they were tethered to him by thick ropes that looped all the way around him.
“Oh that’s so you don’t kill me! Although I’m sure you wouldn’t, would you? I mean, I’m so intrigued by you…surely you wouldn’t eat someone so passionate about your species?” The doctor asked with a big smile, climbing atop a nearby ladder and making direct eye contact with the king. Then he lifted a camera and took a picture of his eye. The flash from the camera made helios pull back and blink like crazy, bursts of light weren’t his thing at all.
“ Wow! Your eye reacts to light In such interesting ways!! I bet you’d never go blind even if you looked directly at the sun for days!!” He said in a nerdy, yet deep voice.
Helios frowned and growled through his teeth. “I most certainly would eat you if I didn’t need you.” he thought.
“You seem….interesting, why don’t you untie my wings so you can look at the patterns on the underside, it’s my favorite thing about myself personally. It’s the birthmark of my great grandfather, though it seems to skip a generation sometimes. Fascinating really.”
“Hmmmm, that sounds…very intriguing! I’ve been studying birthmarks and patterns for years!”

(Gtg for a bit sorrrry!!!!)
The human held a pair of wire cutters up to the bonds that held Helios. They glistened brightly with a wicked edge as they sliced through the ropes and loosed his wings. Helios flexed his wings and wondered why he hadn’t killed this human already. A needle sat empty of its contents on the counter beside him, with a label he couldn’t read.
Muscle relaxer and aggression dampener. It read.
Oh wow! These are remarkable!! I’ve never seen anyth- or anyone, with this pattern! And you say it’s genetic?! Oh the Genetics Guild would kill for your dna!” He said in astonishment, lifting up the huge dragons wings as best he could and climbing underneath them to see better, the way young dragonets used to climb under his wings when the mountain kingdoms winds got too cold. Helios stood up and rolled off of the elevated platform he’d been on, standing up and wincing loudly at the pain in his neck. He looked down and could see dried blood had caked up all down his chest and neck, some still fresh oozing over the already dried blood just from the movement.

“Oh no, no, no! This won’t do, that needs bandaged! You don’t want to ruin your magnificent scales before auction! Or bleed to death, that’d do no one any good! Although an autopsy would reveal a good amount about your unique anatomy, I’d rather you stay alive and tell me what you can do!” He said enthusiastically, moving the ladder over to directly infront of Helios neck. His huge teeth loomed over the human, the power to snuff the life out of him was right there…but, why? For what?
“Well I hate humans…. But he’s just curious…maybe he’s just oblivious to the war between the two of us.”
As the human wrapped a large roll of bandaging material around his neck, he decided to let him finish before eating him, if he was going to at all.
“Where are we?” Helios asked, looking around at the surrounding room. It was a very large space with tables set up to hold dragons of many sizes, and cabinets holding needles and large books each with a unique symbol for every dragon species. The overhead lights were dimmer thankfully, not as eyeball burning as the others and a large door that seemed to slide upwards was in the wall in front of him. His way out.
“Oh we’re a bit into “The Maze” but it’s not really all that maze-y. Once you’ve spent most your life down here wonderin when the other scientists will allow you into the guild….you get it all layed out in your brain!” He answered with a smile, but it seemed to flicker away for a moment as he spoke and then return. It was still amazing how much dragonese this human knew, like he’d only ever talked to dragons.
Helios could hear a commotion outside, a bang and a gasp of pain.
“Oh they better not be here to raid me again! It’s always-” the human started, but stopped as soon as soon as the door opened and a head poked through. It was a dragon, a Lunarwing! It was Eclipse!
“Helios!” She had shouted as the king lowered his head to block the human from her sight. And then a Seawing came in, looking like he’d killed someone. Crest.
“W-what are you two doing here?! How’d you even find me! How are you free?!” He asked incredulously, surging forward and wrapping his wings around the two of them for a moment.

The human stared at them all, And then instinctively reached for something in his pocket….

(Lol don’t kill him btw 😂)

Eclipse tensed as Helios pulled her and Crest into his enormous wings. His wings were pleasantly warm, but the feeling of his and Crest's scales sliding against hers made her more uncomfortable than she could remember being in a while. She was relieved that Helios was pleased to see her again, alive and somewhat free, but she barely knew the Solarwing. To top it off, he was royalty--the king of his tribe nonetheless--and even though it was adorable how much of a softy he was toward the two younger dragons, it was very strange to her.
She wriggled slightly in his embrace, glancing around at the other dragons in the lot.
"Yeah, it's good to see you too," she said awkwardly, gently pulling out of his wings and flashing him a small smile, feeling the scales beneath her eyes warm with embarrassment. "I didn't know you knew Crest," She took another pace back and swept her gaze over the lot.
"We have to hurry though. We don't know how long before the humans discover we-"
She broke off as she spotted the human standing behind Helios. His hand was buried in one of the pockets on his coat and he was watching them all with wide eyes.
The warping blade was already hovering menacingly over the man's throat and Eclipse curled her lips back in a snarl.
"Three moons, how many of these pests are in here?"

Helios smiled back at her, a sudden sadness tearing at his mind for only a second as a picture of his daughter with the same fierce eyes took eclipses place. It vanished immediately and he looked away, towards Crest. “I’m glad you’re alive, Soldier, I wasn’t sure if…well, nevermind.” He said, trailing off and just smiled at the Seawing.
Eclipses face told him she’d seen the human by now and a warping blade had made its way straight to the humans throat. “Woah, woah wait. I dont think he’s like the others….” He said, placing his wing claw atop the blade that was held in the air by some invisible force and keeping it from moving any closer.
The doctor had let out a surprised sound when the blade had sped toward him, dropping the camera he’d pulled from his cargo pant’s pocket underneath the lab coat and staring at the Lunarwing. “Oh my…oh wow…you’re an….you’re a….Lunarwing!” He shouted excitedly in dragon, still not moving from where he stood. He reached up and combed his hair through, making it look as if he’d been electrified and his eyes were wide with amazement. “I can’t believe this! They sent me a Lunarwing to study! Me! A Lunarwing! Wow! How old are you? How tall are you! Where’d you come from? Is this the warping?” He asked in a hurry, reaching out and touching the silver blade, nicking his finger and pulling it back immediately, “wow, this is incredible! If I new how to create this, I could change the world!”

Helios watched the human rant, then turned back to eclipse. “He’s a little bit odd.” He admitted with an amused grin.

"You don't say," Eclipse mock gasped sarcastically, her eyes widening in faked surprise. The mask of sarcasm melted a little as a flicker of an amused smile graced her face before she turned back to the human, fixing him with a dangerous look.
"I can answer all your questions quite simply," she growled coldly. "Don't touch me and none of your business."
She repositioned the warping blade behind him and let it barely nudge his back threateningly.
"We have to hurry it up." She glanced back at Crest. "Start helping the others out, quickly."
She turned to Helios. "Can you keep an eye on him?" She flicked her head at the human. "We are probably going to have to take him with us for now. Monzy can decide what to do with him later." Noticing the look on Helios's face, she added "He's the rebellion leader. I'll explain on the way."
She turned and bolted back to the door, signaling the other dragons to follow with one wing.

dangit I keep forgetting the tags

Roe stopped beside Tobias as he slid the IceWing's card across the scanner. Tobias leaned to look through the doorway.
"Slide this," he lifted the card, offering it back to the white dragon, "across each pinpad. Slowly. Got that? Fox?"
The IceWing's gaze wandered back to Tobias, nodding. "What do I tell them?"
"Tell them this is a breakout." Roe answered, just as Tobias opened his mouth to reply. "Tell them they are going to be free."
The dragon gave a stiff nod, lumbering through the doorway.
"How is it going?" Roe asked quickly, watching Fox curiously.
Tobias smiled gently, nodding. "I think we're gonna do it. Trucks ready?"
"The whole yard."
"Oh, wow," Tobias sighed a breath of relief. "Ohh, okay. This is happening. Wow." He gave Roe a wide smile, and her expression softened.
"Gongll," Gables called down the hall, "gotta situation over here."
Roe started towards the lot, but Tobias reached for her shoulder, then kept pace up beside her. "Sol made it out of borders."
"I know." She laughed softly.
Tobias repositioned his hat, a growing habit, "God knows we'd be lost without you. Thanks, Roe. Thank you so much."
Roe stopped, her gaze locked on Tobias. "I have to speak with y-"
"Dadgummit, Gongll!" Gables shouted from within the lot. "We're on a time crunch!"
Roe bit her lip, turning sharply into the lot.
"What." She said dryly, watching Gables struggle with a small dragonet. Five more dragonets piled up against the cage bars, their scales clinging to their tiny frames.
"Call in-" Gables glanced at her, panting as he fought to keep a gloved hand around the dragonets snout, pinning wings and talons back as best he could, "what's the matter with you?"
"Goodness, nothing." Roe touched her earpiece, "Wild dragonets, six, lot.." she hurried towards the exit, peeking her head out to glance at the lot number plaque. "26C- Excuse me, C26."
"That's not-" Gables sighed, wrestling the dragonet back into the cage. "I think we need to bring a truck back here, if we start getting cages, it'll be much simpler for these guys, and Eclipse found a SeaWing, he's absolutely shot, we need better transport."
Roe hesitated, then shook her head. "We are in, we are out. The dragonets are covered. We will come back for the others. One day. You know that."
Gables groaned quietly, rushing to the next cage containing a small NightWing. "I have a sneaking suspicion everyone's too dead to make it out of here." He snapped as Roe exited the lot. "This is Hell. Everyone's shot, Gongll, the plan needs to change."
Roe stiffened as his voice echoed through the hall, reaching for the earpiece. "Fracture, where are you?"
The answer was immediate. "M20 and on."
Roe breathed a sigh of relief. Fracture should make up for their loss of time. Gables was correct. They seemed to be hitting the jackpot of injured dragons.
"Monzy? Position." Roe hurried past a lot door, stopping when she spotted a blur of color, glancing into the lot.
"Aye, we good, Roe, we good. You 'ave half 'our bout now."
"Correct." Roe said slowly, squinting at the red dragon beside Eclipse, the splotchy colored SeaWing glancing at her as she rushed into brightly lit lot. "Keep me updated, Monzy."
Roe's gaze fell on the red SolarWing, gasping slightly as her brain register the dragon as Sol, then realizing this dragon was simply an uncanny resemblance to the well known SolarWing.
A wild looking man caught her attention, his hands seemed to be twiching eagerly, a stupid smile on his lips.
Roe snatched the tranq gun, raising the weapon towards the man and nodding at Eclipse. "We must move."

Rebellion? Oh boy….
Helios picked the human up and placed him atop his back, making sure his scales were as cold as possible. His fire had begun to return and he was grateful that he could control his temperature again. He hurried over to the other cages, the doctor holding onto his horns tightly and watching as all his study dragons, who were actually kept in quite nice cages with adequate food and water along with temperature controlled spaces for the many dragons he studied, were let out and freed.
“Why are you letting my dragons out?! All at once too! They’re going to make such a mess! Frostbreath stay away from the microscopes! Cloudfall don’t get near the computer or else!” He said as if they were old friends, and he had to keep them out of trouble. Helios was amazed, this scientist actually cared, albeit still in an odd way. Suddenly more humans appeared, but Eclipse gave him a reassuring nod. As the rest of the dragons were freed, the room became quite crowded.
“Ok, what rebellion? Where are we going?” Helios asked, ignoring the human on his back for a moment as he told a young Mudwing to stay out of the potted plants or else he wouldn’t get mud for a week. “Explain, please. And….have you seen Sol?”
