Tam leaned against the wall of a small cell, defiantly refusing to sit. Fracture also stood, staring at the doorway expectantly, her expression hard.
Multiple cells lined back to back, bars separating each separate block. Tam leaned against the solid wall opposite to the door, which was also cemented, a windowless door in the center.
They appeared to be the only prisoners- no other human body in sight.
"Someone is coming." Fracture broke the strange silence.
Tam glanced up as the cell door to their left was wrenched open, light steamed through the doorway. He straightened, pushing himself off the wall as Jabez stumbled into the cell, his forearms shaking as the hybrid fell against the far barred wall.
The door was slammed shut, bright light vanishing. An ominous silence returned, broken only by Jabez' quick breaths as he let his knees buckle, slumping against the wall.
Fracture came up beside Tam, resting her arms on the crossbars as she tried to catch the hybrid's attention.
"Jabez." She clapped her hands together, and Tam returned to his position on the wall, slowly reaching his hand up to feel his marred lip.
