Of Feathers And Flames- A Wings of Fire AU RP

“…I don’t remember.” another lie. She remembered, she just didn’t like the story. Besides, it was nobody’s business. “I definitely don’t recall living in a tribe, though. Throughout my life I’ve never spoken to anyone, besides quick trades. My attachments never last.” She opened her mouth as if to speak again, hesitating, before falling silent again. She thought for a few seconds before asking, “did you ever have any siblings?”
Eclipse sighed.
"Yes. I had an older brother. But we went our separate ways a long time ago."
She could tell Sunspot wasn't opening up fully, and Eclipse wondered if it would be wiser to do the same.
"What about you? Did you ever have siblings?"

Sunspot looked away, her tail twitching. “As long as I can remember,” she replied smoothly. A lie. She squeezed her eyes shut, not wanting to remember. A little golden dragonet, speckled with black, with electric blue stripes zig zagging like lightning across his spine and wings.

“Yeah. And you? What’s your oh-so-glorious backstory?”

“Oh- yeah, okay,” said Phoenix, watching them fly away. As she turned to look back at Knight she realized what he was doing. “What-“

She dropped her head close to the ground, peering at the silver rock. “How- how did you do that?!” Phoenix yelled at the tiny dragonet, not able to keep a slightly freaked out edge from coming into her voice.

Gingerly she scooped up the rock. It was shockingly light, barely weighing anything in her palm. It was as metallic as a mirror and Phoenix could see her distorted reflection in its surface. She wondered…

She focused, concentrating all her energy on the talon holding the silver stone. Her talon burst into flames. The rock was unaffected by the blazing heat. She shook out the flames.

“You,” Phoenix said, pointing at the tiny dragonet, “are VERY STRANGE.”
Knight fell backwards and erupted in adorable giggles, thinking Phoenix’s “shocked and amazed” face was hilarious. The rock slowly melted off of Phoenixs talons and into a sphere of floating silver liquid. It glided smoothly over to Knight and split into several different streams, slipping under his scales and right back into his warping dots.

King shut the door and Osprey immediately patted him on the back. “You’ve done it, King. You’ve found a Lunarwing! Do you know what this means? Our plan can work!” He whisper/ shouted, an enormous grin on his face. “Of course we still need Queen Caimans signature and a few more, that rainwing queen should be more then happy to join our army. Spineless frog is what she is.” He spat angrily, them immediately began talking of the plan. “The Skywings armor has been tested against human weapons, and it works! And the assassin nightwing prisoners the royal cloudwings keep locked up have given our undercover agents the blueprints for human weaponry. I say it’s time to even the playing field.” A fiery look in his eyes, Osprey leaned in close and smiled. “The humans won’t rule forever.”

"No." Sol said, quite blunt. "Tobias joined, like, yesterday. I've been.. recovering." The red dragon gave his father a weak smile. "Come further in, there's shade."

Tobias' arm looked hideous, and Gables searched the pack with desperation, finding bandages and gauze of all sorts, but little to no means of medicine, salve, or drugs of any sort. However, he did find quite a bit of dried beef, which he set to the side. Fracture continued washing away the blood with more fresh water, growing wary as the raw, blistering skin continued to bleed. It needed pressure. She wrapped the wound with tight bandages, motioning Gables back when he moved to assist her. "Eat. I will finish it." Gables watched with a weary look, silent, though the tightness of the bandages seemed questionable, as well as Fracture's methods. But he would let Ferrin complain. Right now, he just wanted to sleep, but no way was he receiving any sort of rest, Ferrin would be back any minute now. Gables had found a watch in the backpack, shocked when he found it read 6:30, he was certain time hadn't passed that rapidly, but Fracture just scoffed at his surprise. She seemed to do that. A lot.

A few minutes later, both Gables and Fracture sat against the wall, eating the dried beef. Two Ferrinless hours passed. Gables lost hope.

Ferrin rushed down the hall, giving the guards a quick, annoyed nod as he pointed to the rebels cell. They opened the door, and he was able to slip in, gasping at the sharp, horrid smell he knew all too well. He slammed the door shut, his eyes wide as he glanced from Tobias, to Rose, the knowing expression almost immediate. "Three blasted moons." He hissed, still saying put beside the door. "Ohh, my gosh." Ferrin dragged a hand down his face. "When did this happen." He rushed to Rose's side.
Helios was silent for a long while.
He took a few steps into the shade and silently let out the breath he didn’t know he was holding. “Sol. I know what you’ve been through was hell, worse even.” He started, another tear silently rolling down his cheek. “After your sister….I would never leave you. I swear. I searched for years, any compound around the kingdom was torched by my own flames.” He said, shifting his weight and wincing at the deep wounds in his chest. “I finally heard about that death trap. The Scorpion Den…and I knew, you had to be in there.” He shut his eyes tight and looked down, feeling less like a king and even less like a father then ever before.
“I’m so…so sorry…I would never leave you…I swear. Sol…I love you…” he finished, a shudder racking his body.

Sunspot was silent for many seconds.
“…I- yeah. I had a little brother.” she took a deep breath and let it out in a sigh tinged with smoke. “Gone now.”

Why are you even telling her this? Spark is none of her business. She should keep her snout out of my things.

But… Eclipses story paralleled her own in a way that made it seem… comforting?

She huffed a cloud of smoke, blowing a ring and then another, smaller one. She watched as the second ring passed through the first before slowly dispersing, fading away.

Eclipse rested her head on her talons again, allowing the silence to stretch out a little as she watched Sunspot blow a couple of smoke rings into the air. She didn't want to make her uncomfortable by prying.
"So you like to travel right?" she said after a long pause, shifting the conversation. "What's your favorite place to explore?"

(CONNIVING AHHHH. ALSO. BOOGER BROWN??? 😭🤣)

“I’m not nearly nerdy enough to even begin to try to figure that out. I don’t know anything about LubarWings,” Phoenix said, partially to herself. She gazed up at where she’d seen King and Osprey go, wondering what they were discussing. “I guess we’d better just stay and wait here for them, right little dude?”

She curled her tail around the little dragonet, pulling him closer to her warmth.

Sorry, the first thing I thought about when I read this was the part in the Hobbit book, lol
(I've never seen the movies, only read the Hobbit, I have a long way to go still, CAP NO SPOILERS)

“I’ve been to the Claws of The Clouds mountains before, that was pretty sweet,” Sunspot said, forcing a grin. “Ice Kingdom was too cold, even for me, I think I would end up scorching the rainforest on accident, and the Mud Kingdom is too… muddy. I’ve never been to the Night Kingdom or Pantala, though.”

"I've always wanted to visit Pantala, but I didn't think it was really worth it."
Eclipse shrugged. "Guess I never really had the time."
She thought for a second. "I wonder if there are any creepy ruins in the Night Kingdom still."

“Good question. I know nothing about the other tribes,” Sunspot said with a chuckle. “Never cared enough to learn.”

Eclipse grinned at her.
"Don't tell me you've never heard of 'The Darkstalker'"
She added a note of fake fear to the words, unable to suppress a laugh afterwards.
