Of Feathers And Flames- A Wings of Fire AU RP

"Yeah." Sol spoke in a quiet tone. "I agree." He looked into Eclipse's vibrant eyes, a steely determination in his own gaze. "I wonder if... I could ever convince Helios to... well. It obviously couldn't be a suicide mission. We'd need a plan."
Eclipse nodded slowly, glancing briefly up into Sol's fiery-gold eyes. "I think I know someone who can help a lot. We might even be able to get the Icewings in on it too."
She paused, then let out a gentle laugh.
"I don't know, maybe it is crazy. I mean, we're just..." she trailed off, gesturing toward Sol and herself, trying to find the words.
"We're just us. I'm just a Lunarwing and I mean-... well, you are a prince, so I guess you could do something, but, how could I make a difference?"
She shifted her weight away from him slightly, awkwardly, as she recalled his royalty. Gosh, it felt so weird being friends with a prince, especially when said "prince" acted nothing like one.

"Well, you've convinced me." Sol gave a gentle smile. "I doubt it will hurt to try to convince, others?" He stared at Eclipse with a questioning look. "Let's talk to Helios when we get back. And... Gen. We should talk to Gen, too. If he followed us. I have a hinting suspicion he's on the roof of the truck." Sol rolled his eyes.

Eclipse laughed quietly.
"You'll have to introduce me formally to this "Gen" character at the next checkpoint," she said, shooting him an amused grin.
"What is the next checkpoint anyway?" she said after a brief pause. "I think Sunspot might be some help too. I'll talk to her later though."

"Ah, okay. I don't know where the next Checkpoint is. We weren't really... Told much."

Eclipse ignored the Skywing, her mind working through everything Sol had just said, trying to think of what to say next.
"I didn't know the Den could do that," she breathed, moving her eyes to the ground as well.
"That's why you wanted to bring me to Tobias, isn't it? Because you didn't know who your father was anymore."
Realization was slowly drawling into her mind, the question she'd been wanting to know for so long. She finally understood.
"You thought that I would know something about Helios. Things you didn't know, but you didn't want to confront your father. Because of what the Den turned you into?"
She kept her voice low, hoping not to draw attention from any of the other dragons.

"Oh, geez, Sherlock." Sol closed his eyes, trying to follow Eclipse's logic. Gosh, she had connected dots much faster than himself, especially due to his living in self denial for the past five years. But yes.
That was exactly how he felt. That was exactly what he had done. She was so right.
"That's my life, Eclipse," Sol murmered, his voice weak with shame.

Eclipse was silent for a long moment. She hadn't entirely expected to be right, but the more she thought about it, the more it made sense.
The Lunarwing glanced down at Shard, the little dragonet deep in sleep. Eclipse carefully let go of her, letting her rest on the transport floor and sliding backwards away from her.
She stood up slowly and paced across the short distance toward Sol, carefully settling down beside him. She carefully rested her uninjured wing over his back, keeping her gaze focused on the ground, the silence settling between them again.
"Sol," she finally said, quietly. "You shouldn't blame yourself for what the Den did to you."
Eclipse turned to look at him, trying to catch his gaze.
"I know that it's hard to let go of guilt, but you are leaving the Den now, and I know you wouldn't want that life back if you had the choice. It's like what you and Tobias have told me. I can't go back and change the fact that Roe is gone, no matter how much I blame myself or regret it, there's nothing I can do. There's nothing you can do about what happened in the Den. All we can do now is keep moving forward."

@_-Captain BRM-_

Sol nodded, excepting to Eclipse's comforting affection. He leaned against her, demonstrating his appreciation towards her gentle words.
"I'd love to restart."
He let his gaze wander to Tobias' slumped, sleeping form, a fond glint in the dragon's eyes as he watched protectively over his friend.
"Oh, I was- I was so scared." Sol whispered, the subject in his mind switching quite suddenly, his focus on that night's unfortunate events. "Oh, Eclipse." Sol closed his eyes. "Thank you. You followed me out... to- to the blasted desert. I am such a fool." He gave a weak, awed smile, then let his words sit for a moment. He hesitated, at a loss for what to say next. "I don't know what to tell you," Sol admitted. "But thank you? Thank you."

Eclipse smiled. Something felt so good about that. She had hardly been around another dragon in years, and the only good thing she could consider having done that wasn't out of her own self-interest had been rescuing Sunspot. If her experience in the Den had changed her in any way it was in this- she realized how much time she'd wasted hunting the Nightwing. She had been selfish, she had been rash. Maybe before she had fully come to accept and realize that, her subconscious had already learned the lesson.
"Of course," she murmured quietly to Sol. "I didn't realize how important Tobias was to you until after that, but now I understand." She stared up at the ceiling.
"Three moons. I actually, finally, understand."

@_-Captain BRM-_

"It's true."
Sol gave a content sigh.
"We lucked out, Eclipse."

He glanced at her with a fond gaze, but just a quick look. "Where will you go after this? After... We're really free."

(Maybe- just maybe, Eclipse could conceive the idea regarding the rebellion taking over the SD completely, and she could ask Sol to convince Helios? Then they'd have the SolarWing army, after a lot more convincing and stuff. But, up to you.)

(probably, they could come up with it kinda together a little at a time)

"Gee, I don't know," Eclipse said, running a talon down her snout.
"I've never... never really had to say goodbye to anyone. Like this. In-... in a long time."
She fidgetted with her claws, somewhat nervously.
"I guess I'll keep traveling. I have a friend who I would like to meet up with after this, and there is so much I've always wanted to see. But..."
She paused, glancing at Sol again.
"But there are still so many dragons in the Den, I know one of them. I never would have thought twice about trying to do anything about it. But we have. I mean-"
She swept a talon around the transport.
"Here we are. Free. Or, almost anyway. We know it's possible now. If only we had enough dragons to do it."

@_-Captain BRM-_

Sol arched his brow. "You'd go back? To-... save dragons you've never even met?" He looked away slowly, unsure of what exactly Eclipse meant.
Chattering like finches, ugh

Quite frankly, Sol’s emotional trauma bored Sunspot and she couldn’t care less. Eclipse and Sol’s obvious connection? Slightly more interesting.

Sunspot did have a sneaking suspicion that Eclipse had a lover of some sort somewhere. Maybe another LunarWing?

Sunspot didn’t particularly care that Eclipse seemed to be… close (she didn’t know the right word) with other dragons.

The SolarWing gave a long sigh, a plume of smoke rising.
