off beak

my chicks are about a week and two days old there all healthy and happy there are four and there all feathering out so fast but! one of them as she grows has an off beak the bottom of it is crooked to the right side considerably she can still eat she even had dead meal-worms today but i want to know if it will get worse or many straighten out? were just really worried about her

I have a Buff Wyandotte hen like that. It's called a "cross beak" and there is nothing you did to cause it, and nothing you could have done to prevent it. I have read several theories as to why it develops - they all seem plausible, but

The one thing I have read that has been helpful is to make sure she has a feeder that has a deep enough lip to allow her to "scoop up" her food to eat it.

This is Criss (for CrissCross as my kids named her), she is a year old, now. And she does just fine - and lays great eggs!

eta: she is only a few months old in the above picture - but she is a year old, now.

I agree! She should be ok as long as she can get the feed into her mouth.

Kelly, she is adorable!!!!! It gives her alot of personality even in the pic. LOL

thank you yah shes fine shes been putting on a few and seems happy thank you for putting aside my fears and your chick is really cute!
 
i know its been awhile since i started this tread but i am bord and updatin we had to put her down she could no longer eat or drink the poor kid
