Ok.. Im driving myself crazy trying to find out the name of this movie.. It came out a couple years ago. Im thinking 2005 but dont hold me to that.. its a true story about this guy whose plane (he was flying himself) went down over a jungle.. crash landed in the jungle from what I gathered.. .then there was something to do with tribal people... thats all I remember.. I know its not much to go on but Im so hoping someone knows what Im talking about...
End of the Spear ..about missionaries Jim Elliot and Nate Saint.
Excellent movie! The missionaries do not kill any natives, the natives killed them. Later the families of the slain were not only able forgive but live among the tribal killers and others. It's amazing story of truth and forgiveness.
It's supposed to be really good, but I haven't seen it yet either. Some more good "Missionary" movies are "At Play in the Fields of the Lord". Tom Berenger can certainly fill out a clam shell hubba hubba.
and "The Missionary" with Robert DeNiro.
A couple of good films to watch as a double feature are "Letters from Iwo Jima" and "Flags of our Fathers". They're both directed by Clint Eastwood and tell the taking of Iwo from the perspective of both sides.Letters is in Japanese with subtitles.
Speaking of subtitles! Our local Blockbuster had to put up signs saying that "Letters", "Apocalypto", and "Pan's Labyrinth" had subtitles and weren't in English...Let's see, Pan was from Spain, Letters was Japanese and Apocaplypto was in Nahuatl. There was a big deal about all of these when they first came out...Stupid people....grrrr....
