It all depends...is the ole hag leaning towards pretty or pretty ugly?

Dang, y'all! I missed a lot the past couple of days! Hope everyone's injured husbands are healing up OK.

One time my husband sprained his ankle, and it was awful! After a couple days he was able to drive but it still hurt to walk, so I took off from my job, and he drove me on his route, and I hopped out and did the checks for him at each place. It was kind of funny.

I imagine all you youngun's that went back to school are probably about sick of it by now.

I used to be terrified of bigfoot when I was a kid. There were supposed to have been some sightings of one in the woods near our house, and I would not go in my mom's room at night if no one had closed the curtains on her sliding glass door. I would have dropped dead if I looked out there and saw one. My dad was all into UFO's and we watched 'In Search Of' on TV, and they had that one where the bigfoot was peeking in the people's window.

If anybody wants to go back to ghost stories, I'll tell y'all mine.

Countrygirl, that ain't no old hag!
Oh, my daughter gave me a Trace Atkins CD for my birthday. He don't look as good as my husband, too skinny for me, but his voice -- mmm mmm mmm!

Wendy-my dh actually works on a land rig. He is out 2 wks at a time and home for one week. He wants to move us closer to the coast and work offshore though. I'm afraid to make the move!!! Especially during hurricane season. I would be stuck with all my critters in the house with me riding out the hurricanes!!!

Thanks for asking about dh. His head is better now. He still has a huge lump. When it happened he had quite a few headaches and his lip kept twitching. He was in a bad mood for about 2 weeks. Finally he got better.

You know how hard their job can be! I worry constantly. Once his phone didn't work so he called me from the rig phone. I thought he had been injured or killed when I saw the number come up on my caller id! I jumped on that phone and I didn't say Hi I said what's wrong with David is he okay. David thought it was funny. I didn't. I know they make good money but I still wonder if it is all worth it.

Are you able to email your dh while he is away? We have friends and relatives that worked offshore and they said the best part was the food! All of them come home weighing just a bit more!

well my husband works for a service company so he travels to different rigs. his back started hurting him and he had to change jobs. the pay is a little more than he was making. but he was home two weeks with the other job. now he is home only one week. being a hand with a service company most rigs won't let them use the computers. we would have to buy our own lap top for him to bring offshore. and he doesn't want to do that. he says he plans on getting a job around here after we pay off two bills we have and our land that is financed through our local bank here.
i have been applying for jobs around here. to help pay off the bills a little faster. but haven't gotten any calls yet. so i went and applied for substitue teacher, we will see if that helps. at least it will get my foot in the door for going back to work on my resume and hearing of other jobs opening in the school system. i would love to go to school to be a teacher. but i have two under three years old. i would not be able to study. and the bills from going to college would mean my husband would be offshore even longer then!

i ended up calling the company he works for and asking the dispatcher for the rig number. he said he would call the rig and tell him that he needed to call home. so i got a collect call from my husband last night. finally got to talk to him, i hadn't since last thursday. he said he can't get a signal out there all of sudden. it was weird, we talked for several days then no signal at all he tried all over the rig! so i am going to get him a calling card so he won't have to call collect.
my husband has a very good metablisom (sp?) he doesn't gain much weight from the food. he does talk about how good it is. i get jealous because he gets seafood twice a week and steak at least once a week! two of my favorite things to eat. we don't eat them that often at home! but a good thing about him going to this service company is that he does not have to sweat as much drilling and so he does not loose the little weight he gains in winter from sweating in the summer.

nice to talk to someone that has a husband that works for a rig. we understand what each other goes through. i have seen things on the caller id too and had my heart sink!
but God has been good to us, the only thing he has had since we have been married and together was a few things that were not life threating

I hear ya on the ripped tendons. I stepped on my keys and went down the back steps. I crawled back up the stairs and waited for DH to come home. He brought pizza and after supper we went to the ER. I was sure it was broken...which may have been better in the long run. It has a tendency to swell and I can't wear heels anymore, unless I can use a can the next day.

I've had pleurisy too...that sucks...it feels like somethings jumping up and down on your lungs...it's awful.

Here's some big fluffy chicken hugs to the bunch of you...

I LOVED In Search of...they updated it too and it wasn't as good.
there another show now where the guy is hunting down cryptids...He went to Chile for their version of Chupacabra and to New Guinea for a bird/pteradactyl thing with a glowing stomach...don't remember the name though.

Does anyone have one of those Dyson vacuums? They look like they work good, but I'd like to hear from someone who owns one.

I'm so peeved at my current vacuum. It's a Bissel Lift-off. The middle of it lifts out if you want to, I don't know...vacuum stairs or something. It is such a piece of trash! I'd say it sucks, but that's the problem - IT DOESN'T! I feel like all I'm doing is rearranging the dirt on my floor. I could probably do as good of a job grabbing the broom and sweeping the carpet! I have a 3 and 4 year old, and this thing doesn't cut it. It also has 3 filters on it. Two black foam ones and a HEPA on the back of it........they all clog pretty much as soon as you turn the thing on. They're expensive to constantly replace, and I've tried just cleaning the foam ones, but it doesn't matter. The first time you switch it on CLOGGED again! I hate this vacuum. I really do. I've also had it cut off on me because it was clogged and overheated. I dump the thing out and try to knock whatever dust I can off the filters, but this thing is so useless.

I hope someone on here works for the Bissel "vacuum" company so they know what a piece of garbage this thing is. Can you tell I just got done using it? LOL Man, it really peeves me!

Seriously, if someone's got a Dyson let me know what color it is (I know there's a purple, a yellow...?) and how it works.
