NEWS FLASH! 2 Hens Survive Disastrous Barnyard Base Jump Attempt
Amateur base jumping enthusiasts, Peggy Star and Rhoda Redhen, received minor injuries during this morning's daring base jump from the peak of the barn roof. Witnesses say the pair apparently neglected to properly fasten their parachutes, and plummeted to the ground amidst much squawking and desperate flapping. "It's a miracle they even survived!" said Lulu Wideload, also pictured above, grabbing a juicy cricket stirred up from the impact. Rhoda Redhen claims it was the excitement of their highest jump ever that made them forget their parachutes. The pair have made several previous successful jumps from the corral fence, the apple tree, and the top of the coop.
According to Emergency Veterinary Technician workers, Miss Star suffered a sprained leg, while Miss Redhen has a severely twisted tail. Both hens are expected to make full recoveries and be back on the nest early next week. A determined Peggy Star says they will attempt the barn jump again.
