I have come to truly appreciate & admire our Vet. She is very logical while also being very compassionate. She is all around awesome. With regard to flea & work stuff it's always been great and smooth. We had a long talk several years back on the logic of rabies shots when the dogs are not roaming around and have a solid stable multi acre yard and care that the shots really aren't something to worry over. Some are actually 3+ year cycles too. Butidigress....

The dog always had the 3 year one but for some reason the cat’s is 1 year. But it’s required here. We don’t have the option of not getting it. Some places do offer titer tests but that would probably be more than the actual shot.

...Some breeds can't have Ivermectin though, so be sure to check if you don't already know.

Sight hounds can't have Ivermectin. That's like greyhounds, wolfhounds, sloughi, borzoi, deer hounds etc.
I think rough collies can't have it either.

The law for rabies vaccination requirements here went to every three years a while back. Way behind the times imo, as it's been known for quite some time that the resistance lasts much longer than a year, but things like that tend to move slowly or not at all, so it's pretty surprising it ever did change.

For some the shots last a lifetime and people just titer test and only vaccinate when needed. Not sure if rabies is one though. Think it’s more complicated process. But either way, I liked the idea but here I am sure the tests would be super expensive. I think we only need 3 year but I heard 3 year was dangerous for cats

Yeah I think it’s actually most of the herding breeds cause of the MDR1 gene.

Interesting. Crazy Lady's Borzoi get ivermectin monthly.
Lepto shots can cause reactions, though.

This was a dialogue thatnoccered back in 2013/14..... All our dogs had their last round of shots back then...... As well live in county only and have a long standing history of very healthy dogs..... And the care and triage knowledge base when I rather call or email her what's up.... I'm one of her *VERY RARE* clients whom she has the she trusts to do above and beyond the minimum she asks. Even during the last months and days of our two that we had to put to sleep over the last 2 weeks....... (Heavy sigh) it's a wonderful & trusted relationship I have with her.

I THINK we might be able to with the other shots but the rabies is required here. But I don’t mind anyway cause we have lots of wildlife around and our yard isn’t fenced
