Decided to just go ahead and order from Cackle Hatchery. The lady I was going to buy guineafowl eggs from changed her prices seconds after she gave me a set price and I told her I would pick some up tomorrow with the excuse that she’s been having a lot of people asking about her eggs.

I rather pay Cackle money than a random person who changes prices last minute because then how do I know their eggs are even decent if they can’t stand by their original price.

I don't blame you. That's pretty sleazy. If you make a commitment, you ought to keep it if at all possible.

Agreed!! And if they wanna up it after, fine. But you gotta at least honor the price you told somebody!! Even if you up it right after them. Can’t just tell someone something and then change it on them or cancel or whatever it is. Some people have no integrity or concern for other people, I swear.

Yeah, I decided to just delete her messages (on FB pm) because I wanted to say something petty but was like you know what not worth it just move on.

So now I’ll be getting 10 hatchery choice guineas, 5 Delaware, 5 Rhode Island White and 5 Speckled Sussex.

My husband wanted the RIW. I wanted the Delawares to make Sex Links. It will be til July when I get em which works out because I want all the chicks I have now to be grown and off heat lamps by the time these ones comes in.

Broodies should be kept separate--do you ever have to confine your turkey girls to a broody pen? Do they go along with that?

If I were to give each of the girls a gander, would they be likely to take him? Do I need to buy the ganders or eggs from a different hatchery's stock? Should I try roast goose first and see whether I even like it? Maybe I should just sell two of the girls...

I don’t even know what she did. Maybe she realized there’s a demand for guineafowl eggs and was testing her luck at upping prices. The new price was still “doable” but it’s the principle and ethics of following through what you already agreed upon.
