Ended Official BYC Mini Contest #8 - Family & Fowl Photo Contest

Granddaughter Katie and her bucket of chicken Silkies the day we took them out to the run to live.

Now that's a bucket of chicken I can get behind! Blooie, look at that big grin on Katie's face...you have a natural born chicken keeper in that girl

I do indeed! My favorite picture of her with the chickens was when "her" first chick hatched. We'd bought some fertile eggs when Katie's Easter Egger Agatha went broody. She and I went out to the coop in the dark and slipped the eggs under Aggie, and for the next 21 days Katie was a constant visitor/telephoner/texter. When I went out to the coop that morning to check, I heard a peep so I called her to come over. She bent over and peered into that nest, checking every shadow. No WAY were we going to put our hands in there to get a look....not with Attila the Hen on the nest! Then Aggie shifted her position slightly and we got a quick glimpse of Scout as Agg settled back down. Katie whipped around, "I saw him!! Gramma, I saw him!" Her pretty little face was just priceless. I'd use that one here but you can't really see the chick or the chicken, so I'll keep browsing for one more entry. I'm sure it will involve Katie, though - such a chicken lover that girl!!

I remember that photo...it really was priceless! (And I would love to see it again whenever you decide to use it.)
