Ended Official BYC Mini-Contest - What’s Your Hobby

Pics
Wow! Loving this thread!
What is it that you love about this hobby?
I ride horse! We own 2 horses, and love to race cars in the field by the road!
When do you do the Hobby?
All year! Rain or shine! The mares need to get out!
What sacrifices do you make to be able to practice your hobby?
We make no sacrifices, we love to ride all the time, and we have time on our hands during Covid!
Are you an amateur? An adept? An expert?
I think I am an expert. I have stopped my mare full gallop in a lope running down the highway bolting. It was scary, but I never give up and bail, I always stay on, and get her to stop. Never serenader and fall of.
Are you lucky enough that this hobby is part of your job/income?
Maybe, we are interested in buying a ranch. It is very expensive, and not super likely we will purchase it, but if we do, then yep! Our horses will bring income!

This is one of our mares Misty! She is mine and a joy to ride! We love to race cars and our top speed is 38 MPH. Fun contest!
That's so awesome! The last time I rode a horse, I was 7 or 8 y.o. and I remember the horse lifted up on it's back legs and I freaked out hahaha. It was a relative's horse, only rode it a few times when I use to spend a lot of my free time with my grandma.
Horses are fascinating and stunning. Very cool hobby @Weeg ! Would love to see that horse racing then cars
What is it that you love about this hobby?
I also LOVE to bake! I have a mini business with all natural ingredients, and never any artificial ingredients or food dies! I always bake homemade, and NEVER anything prepackaged!
When do you do the Hobby?
Mostly rainy days, and when I need to bake cakes and other bakes for other people.
What sacrifices do you make to be able to practice your hobby?
I have to sacrifice horse ride, and outdoors time to bake when people need cakes for my mini business.
Are you an amateur? An adept? An expert?
I think I am expert, I made my first wedding cake a little bit ago! Baking all natural is difficult, you had no idea how difficult it was before I found al natural food dies! Making pink with beets is hard! Lol!
Are you lucky enough that this hobby is part of your job/income?
Yep! I make at least $40 a cake, and often closer to $60. I enjoy it!

My wedding cake! I used Homemade marshmallow fondant with homemade marshmallows, and I never use Buttercream, to sweet. Only cream cheese frosting! 😊
Dang @Weeg That cake looks amazingly delicious! And that it's all natural makes it even better! What got you into cakes?
My second hobby...Art! I have always love to sketch, and I draw a variety of things! There rarely is a single day I dont draw something! Here are some of them! View attachment 2421871
Here is one of my few digital pieces! (above)

Here is one I sketched, then colored digitally, now please, make my day and tell me who this character is, and where he is from! If you can...
And that is only some of my many pieces, I have many, many other art books in boxes as well!
I love your art. I love the expression in the pencil doodle. Wish I had your talent :love
1st - i dont get much time for hobbies but my favourite and my passion is collecting paperweights, its a new found love but im addicted 🥰View attachment 2421926
Those glass pieces are beautiful! Glass art is soooo pretty and delicate.
WOW!!!! That's amazing!!!
Well, I go through phases. It depends on the time of year really on my hobbies... I read all year long. Probably #1.. I have bakes cakes, Dimond paintings (winter), hunting in the fall, crocheting or loom knitting another winter hobby... but right now I am designing Christmas cards on my daughter's cricut ( she never uses it i figured I would) and well it seems I have started collecting..................CHICKENS!!!!!!

Bis a card i designed myself. Its glittery and shinny in places... but its hard to see.

That card looks great!!! Like something you'd buy at the store. One of my hobbies is paper crafts and I use to make cards, too. Not nearly as detailed but I've been getting lazy... I just print images and glue them on card stock 🤣

Hobby #1 - Collecting Stickers from everywhere and anyone.
I have always loved collecting stickers since I was little. My dad would let me get 1 from the quarter machine any time we were out and about together.
Fast forward, I let my kids put stickers on their stuff; eventually they started putting them inside back window of my car but that became a blind spot so I had to put my foot down! Then one day, my oldest son got a sticker from school and immediately pasted it on the outside of my car, without hesitation he was too excited to tell me why he got the sticker 🤦‍♀️
Considering my car is already salvaged (and paid off), I decided to allow it and it escalated from there. Over time, random people from anywhere I was (gas station down the street or even out of town) started giving me free stickers.

This is just one side of my car... there's plenty more on the other side. Can you spot my BYC stickers?

the panda bear with a handlebar mustache!!!!

I play video games. I have played many of them and have a small collection from before I got married. I met my husband playing World of Warcraft. I was a tauren druid, also named Bantambird. Nowadays I play games that require less farming and can be finished in an hour or less. I end up playing a lot of League of Legends these days, since I like pvp (player versus player). Since I was a beta tester for League back in the day and have no bad behavior strikes and don't change my name, I got invited to LA and flown out for a day of absolute awesome getting to tour the facility and their competitive arena.

I am an average competitive player, but I have done some serious raiding or competition when I had fewer children and responsibilities.

Don't mind my ranking, I don't bother with ranking up much these days. I play a lot of mages, supports, and fighters. Tend to stay away from assassins.
Suffice it to say, I have many many titles under my belt, I've been an avid gamer girl since I was about 6 when my dad first picked up a nintendo NES.

#1) I LOVE anything arts and crafts. I knit, sew, cross stitch, diamond paint, sculpt, etc. One of my favorite things is that I get to share it with my son, who has shown a real interest in art and takes after me MUCH more than his dad ☺ And it's the art that I get to make with him that is always my favorite!

I'm lucky that I've been able to acquire a LOT of supplies over the years so I can make lots of interesting stuff. My craft box has stuff like fake human teeth and so when it comes to making monsters, our entries tend to usually win or at least place!

(Yes, he's a finger person, lol. Too bad you can't see the back, it's shaped like a butt and legs. I take commissions all day, folks! 😆)

I painted these guys but I draw and paint on canvas too. I really need to start a portfolio instead of just cramming stuff into boxes when I move. Thank God Google Photos has a backup of the pictures, at least!
:th wow!
#2) Reborn dolls!

Now, I KNOW this is a controversial hobby because people either love or absolutely hate reborn dolls. I was one of them! Until I bought an anatomically correct one for my son when he was a baby and then I was hooked. Like my aforementioned hobby, this one requires me to have some supplies on hand that make me look like a serial killer; glass eyes, fake hair, rooting needles, and baby doll parts just everywhere!

It is a labor of love for me. I'd LOVE to be able to make them professionally and sell them and I am definitely proficient enough at it that I could (although I've still got a LOT of learning to do when it comes to rooting patterns for baby heads 😆) but it's something that's brought me a lot of joy and it endears me to all of the little girls I ever meet ☺

I just got a new elf set I plan on working on over the winter...I'm really hoping they'll come out as beautiful as I hope they will!

And I know I didn't make her but she IS a doll and this is JUST the place to show off some of my Barbie collection 😆

View attachment 2421057

You bet your butt I bought her!
Omgoodness... I would have bought that Barbie, too! 🤣 too funny!
The still borns are fascinating, nonetheless! I've watched various videos just because the artwork and transformation is incredible.
I've always loved animals & making or repurposing or crafting. I was either drawing, painting or making something (hopefully more than a mess) since I was 3 yrs old. I used to give as unique gifts or sell sometimes at craft shows, anything from pen & ink, charcoal & watercolor to flower silk & eucalyptus arrangements or swags, handpainted fabric painted shirts, dream catchers with feathers from my birds, to woodwork items, from making little birdhouses or bird themed decor, dog houses from scrap wood out of construction site dumpsters, to repurposing or creating new uses for old furniture like storage, armiores, hutches, desks, etc. I like finding a use for things that would otherwise end up in a landfill. Even old tools can be displayed as art. It's fun being creative...keeps me out of trouble, too! 😆

(I've recently lost over 2,500 irreplaceable photos when I got a new phone, but have managed to find a few through old emails)
Lots of different talents!

Wow! You're a serious gamer!! It's one of my secret stress relievers to play video games still, (not so secret anymore, lol!). I never got into online gaming though, just the single player RPGs. 🤓

I have close to 20 classic style rpg titles sitting on my bookshelf circa 1985-2015, certain series I love, like the xenogears series, shin megami tensi, dragon quest(dragon warrior) star ocean, some final fantasy titles, a few one off titles ( like blue dragon, or vanguard) and my favorite indie platformer shovel knight. Seriously, shovel knight is really great.
But that's just my favorite rpgs, out of what I remember, although technically shovel knight is a side scrolling platformer like super mario, it's just the cutest thing ever.

I've never heard of shovel knight, I'll have to check it out, lol. My rare indie game favorite was Suikoden. I didn't keep my old games but I have played the entire Final Fantasy franchise since the SNES. Does Assassin's Creed count because I've played all of those too. Lol Skyrim...I got into a lot of the uber dorky ones I think. :gig I can't help myself, I'm a dork even when game playing.
