If you are interested in homesteading and hobby breeding, you have undoubtedly seen beautiful photos of egg baskets filled with colorful eggs. There are some well-known chicken breeds that lay blue, green, dark brown, and even pink eggs. Adding these chickens to your flock will make egg collecting a much nicer task.

These enviable egg baskets are enough to get you interested in keeping chickens in your backyard. So how many different egg colors are you getting (or plan to be getting) from your flock this year?

Place your vote above, and please comment below which breed/s you have and which color eggs they lay.

I get white, off-white, pale brown, tan, pinkish brown, brown brown, chocolate brown, plum-ish (chocolate with a heavy bloom), blue, blue-green, green, and gray eggs from my flock. 😊

Editing to add, oh yeah, I forgot to mention the browns, especially the darker ones, have varying levels of speckling.

Just one color, very boring 😄 But I picked my two breeds for temperament, not egg color, and am very happy with their pet chicken qualities, so I can’t complain. I have various colors of English Orpington, and DSL Barnevelders. They all lay light brown eggs. Different hues and some have speckles, but still about the same type of color.

Chickens:
Wyandotte-med Brown, Barred Rock-Light brown speckled, Easter Eggers-light Green/blue, Calico Princess-Light brown/tan, Midnight Majesty Marans-Dark chocolate brown with a light colored bloom that makes it appear somewhat purplish, Starlight Green Egger-will lay mint green but she's been sick, Spitzhauben (not exactly, but that's what she is supposed to be)-white, Polish-white, Crested Cream Legbar-Blue, 3 barnyard mixes-3 different hues of moss green, Svarthöna-pearly white, Silkie-white/off white, Cochin/NN mix-Brown, Dutch Bantam-white, Serama-light brown, OEGB-white and one that lays off white, Pyncheon-white.

Ducks:
Buff Duck-White, Pekin-very light greenish white, Calls-White to bluish white, Aztec-White and bluish white, Australian Spotted Duck-white.
