Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I've dabbled in having a few chickens in recent years. I have the dilemma of wanting free range but having lots of hawks and little cover. I'm now just looking after school chickens during the holidays, so I don't feel too guilty about keeping them in a run.
How many chickens do you have right now?
I have 4x6 week old chicks. These were part of a school project - build a coop and incubate eggs to raise school chickents. Once I've determined pullet or cockerel, I might have fewer.
What breeds do you have?
I believe I have two gold laced Orpingtons, a silver laced Orpington and maybe a striped Leghorn? I'm a novice, so not sure. I will post pictures and get some advice as I also want to find out sex and am hoping someone will be able to help.
What are some of your other hobbies?
I'm on the self-sufficiency journey, so anything to do with food forests, permacuture etc. When not working or in the garden, I love to go tramping.
Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
My family are widespread now. I am an occasional dog-sitter for friends and part-time chicken sitter. No pets as yet. A teacher. Currently on a steep learning curve!
