only the front two runs are covered....haven't figured a way to secure the back run....lost a hen today for the first time ever to a hawk, they are super aggressive this year. Guess the girls will have to stay in the front or side runs.

All 5 of my runs are covered. Mostly with poultry wire and one with netting.
The hawks have become plentiful this year and aggressive. I had one land and stand less than 5’ from the run door and watch the girls run inside.
they are a beautiful animal to watch but this ain’t a KFC

This is our best solution to ward off hawk attack "if spotted in time" its called a chunnel a.k.a chicken tunnel. It is 24"x 24" and covered with camouflage netting....our girls absolutely love it. Ours is leaned up against the house but could be set up as a pyramid. Only one word of caution don't leave any loose ends...we had one girl get tangled up in it and was that way for several hours before we got home from work.

Baling wire back and forth, back and forth, back and forth. Keeps hens in and hawks out. Lots of leaves and yard waste to keep from getting muddy and tons of fun for hens to scratch in.

Ours is covered with hardware cloth ceiling panels and a polycarbonate roof above that. You can kind of see it here in this accidental picture and in the side view of the coop/run.

Does your stay pretty wet?

Mine is netting under a tarp, so I can pull the tarp back in the summer to let in more light in the summer. I put the tarp on this last fall to keep the rain and snow out.
