I’ve made a hummingbird cake once or twice. (Not from this recipe, possibly one of NFCs recipes.) It was a very fresh, “spring” cake. Maybe that’s the connection to the hummingbirds?Put me down for #34, Hummingbird Cake, please! I read the recipe, it sounds good. But I don't see that it actually calls for any hummingbirds, which is good because a) my Walmart doesn't carry them, and 2. I probably couldn't afford them if they did, although they would make an adorable garnish if you could get them to just hover about the cake! So can anyone tell me why it's called Hummingbird Cake?
