Official Christmas Hatch! c'mon and join

Probably shouldn't be naming our chicks before they hatch but I like Mistletoe, that's a keeper, and Nog, of course, and Omega is a good Roo name....

I am getting very discouraged. I am on day 21. Nothing so far. I went to lockdown on Thursday. This is my second attempt at a hatch and so far 0%. My first attempt I only had 4 eggs and none hatched. this time I started out with about 40 eggs. Some had been refrigerated, so I didnt have high hopes but put them in as I had 9 fresh from the nest. 22 were pitched on Thursday as I went to lockdown. Some that I kept, I know were not good, but just couldn't get myself to throw more away. Some looked good on that day, but so far nothing. No pips, no chirps and no movement. All I can think of is the humidity. I can NOT keep it stable. the temp, is spot on. never varies. but the humidity... not so much. The room I have them is is pretty cool. Can that be a problem? I set it up on small blocks so that air could circulate like I had read on here somewhere. Not the first hatch, but the second. If it doesn't work................. want to give up, BUT!!!!!!!! I have two people bringing me fresh fertile eggs on Monday...lol. Try try again...

OK!!!!! question..... was just reading the guide to basic incubation from MebGuide that someone put a link to. On there it says the temp for chickens is 102. my incubator guide and everything else I have read, says 99.5. which is it? maybe this is the reason for my non hatches..

How cool is it? I did read, somewhere, that you can not incubate where the external temp is more than 30 or 40 degrees different than the internal. I don't know if that is true or not, but I did read it.

Don't give up .... Keep trying!

Do you have still air? That is 101. to 102.
Do you have a fan in it (forced air)? That is 99.5

AHA!! I have still air and have been keeping it at 99.5. will raise it for the next batch. Why would the instructions on the bator say 99.5 when they KNOW that it is a still air.

I have it in a bedroom we don't use. It is about 55 to 60 in there. I have now moved it to a warmer room, but as I was moving it, the eggs rolled. I was delusional enough to believe in my ability to carry it without shifting them. Oh well, I dont think it is going to hatch anyway.
