Officially Chickenless + a Goodbye

Well everyone, I rehomed my last few chickens today. Y’all know how much I love my d’Uccles, so it was rough saying goodbye. Life events have made it so I have to move to an apartment, and there was no possible way to keep my sweet birds.

This December marks two years on BYC for me. During this time I have learned so, so much, been welcomed into the community (thanks for the Friend badge!), and have gotten the chance to converse with countless numbers of you lovely people.

I’ll pop in every once in a while (when I remember to and probably on the Home Bakers thread), but for now, this is my goodbye to BYC and the lovely people on it.

Special mentions go to @ronott1 , everyone on the d’Uccle Cult thread, @BigBlueHen53 , @Marie2020 and probably many more that I’ll think of after posting this.

For now, goodbye and thank you to you all for educating, helping, and conversing with me, as well as making BYC such a joyful place to be a part of.

Chickens come and go in our lives sometimes. Hopefully you will be able to have them again one day.

Gonna miss you, Topo! But I totally understand. Life has its quirky twists and turns. I had to sell my horses after a divorce and it was the end of the world for me! I still miss them, always will, but ... life goes on. You'll miss your lovely chickens, but, maybe you can indulge in a pair of budgies or finches or something. But by all means, please don't lose us! You can check in and see what lunacy is going on here any time, and you'll always be welcome on the Prayer Warriors thread!!

Many people on BYC don't have chickens. I am down to about 18 keepers from about 150 at one point. Looks like a ghost town! I have maybe 8 more roosters that are not keepers to sell. I just can't do all the maintenance any more and feed prices have gone crazy.

If I move some day I will be chicken-less, but I plan on going to parks and feeding ducks if I can. Or maybe make friends who have chickens. I have also heard you can stay at airbnb's that have chickens. We will see.

Y’all are so sweet!! I’m still kickin, don’t worry

Life has not been too eventful thankfully, however we did have to put down my old dog a few months ago. It was his time, and we are so thankful to have had 16 years with him.
