Well this has been an eventful 3 weeks. We had 1 muscovy and 1 rouen sitting on eggs and 1 muscovy laying eggs. We found the muscovy that was laying eggs dead in the pond so we started incubating her eggs.
In the meantime the rouen hatched 4 eggs and the muscovy left her nest and sat on the rest of the eggs left by the rouen. The eggs got all mixed up between the 2 girls so I don’t know which eggs belonged to which duck. There was a half hatched baby so we put him in the incubator and 3 other eggs. They all hatched and are 3 weeks old now. I saw the rouen male mating with the muscovy females but have never seen the muscovy male mating with the rouen fenale. My question is what breed are they? We have 2 that look like rouens and 2 that are all black so i am assuming these are hinnies/mule ducks. Can anyone confirm this for me?
We weren’t expecting to raise ducklings so we have been quite busy with these guys and the other eggs are on day 33 of incubation and 1 has pipped so i think it is a hinny/mule as well. We have 4 more to hatch.

@Soon2BChixMom @Miss Lydia you guys have any idea?

Sorry, I don't have any experience with muscovy mixes.
The two do look like rouen ducklings - the other two could be chocolate muscovy. I've never seen a pure brown one though, so if they are muscovy, they most likely would be mixes.
With that said, all of the bills look like mallard breeds.

Muscovy take longer to hatch - did any of them take longer? Could you get pics of them standing so we can see the full body with feathering and not in direct sunlight?

Thank you. The muscovy female is chocolate so that would make sense. They are getting some feathers on their sides by their wings and although not as patterned as the rouen they are also not just choclate like the mom. I guess their feathers change again when they get adult colouring?
The eggs hatched all within a day of each other except the one little rouen. He was from the original rouen nest. After our muscovy jumped onto the other nest she then left it so he was hatched 5 days later. I know the muscovy incubation is 35 days and the hinnies usually 32 and rouen 30 but because of the mix up of eggs and Annie jumping ship I lost track of things...lol. I will get some better pictures today of them.
One more thing...my ducks are all looking terrible. Could they be moulting? They just look disshoveled and a mess. They all eat well and are active just look terrible.
Here is a pic of the muscovy female.

Might be too young for carnucles but I am thinking 2 Rouens and 2 mixes but please post back as feathering comes in better I am very interested in what these beautiful ducklings are going to look like 2-4-6 weeks down the road. And some hinnies/mules can look more like their domestic parent than a scovy parent too so this will be very interesting.

Sorry about your Muscovy females any idea what happened to her. I always think snapping turtle when I see an pond.

Nope no Khaki Campbell’s in the mix. And no caruncles. I will have to do some research and see when caruncles start to grow. I don’t care what they are as they are just pets but i am sure curious as to what colour they will be. I guess i have to be patient...something i lack...lol. I don’t think they are pure muscovy’s though. I am sure they are a cross between the rouen male and chocolate muscovy female.

They are so so cute. Lots lf fun but lots of work. We weren’t expecting to have to raise any ourselves but they are ours now:). I did try to put them back with Annie but she tried to attack them so they are now parented by us!
Poor Jane. We think she drowned while mating. We are new to ducks and just got them easter weekend. At first the male muscovy (Bill) would try and mate with them and the Rouen male (Doc) would jump on Bill and Bill would leave however since then Bill has adjusted more and is now asserting himself with Doc. I think Bill tried to mate with her and Doc jumped on bill and Bill didn’t back down and she was drowned. Muscovy’s aren’t the best water ducks either. There wasn’t a mark on her and she was happy and healthy the day before.
Her babies are cutrently hatching and it will be 35 days tomorrow so it looks like they are purebred muscovy’s
I will definetly post pictures of them as they get their feathers. I am excited to see how they turn out and if they are mixes:)
Thanks for your help
