Not long ago my oldest hen passed. She was 8 years old. I hatched her out and she had issues. When I mow my grass I have a collector on my mower. I put piles of grass in each pen and the birds love to scratch through the piles. I don't free range anymore due to losses from predators in the past. I also give the birds flock blocks to peck at. In one pen I put a chicken ladder I made out of scrap wood that the birds liked to get on. When I harvest the birds get a lot of the greens when I harvest the broccoli, cauliflower, etc. They eat the leaves until just the stems are left. Good luck and have fun...
