Oh how cute .He’s being Mr. Protective

I had company this weekend (all the kids came to visit) and I had a very busy day today; I didn’t have time to go check for eggs this afternoon so I asked my daughter and her fiancé to walk out to the chicken house and get the eggs. When my daughter got back she told me that the chickens got very upset about a stranger being in their house.

Later this evening when I went out to close up the chicken house the red rooster was sleeping in the doorway of the chicken house protecting his girls from the dreaded strangers. It was so cute…that is the first time he has ever done that.

When the girls are in the hen house doing thier daily chores, sweeping, dishes, laying eggs, if I go out to see how everyone is doing, all roos are in the doorway, bawking orders, throwing things and crowing up a storm. I tell them good boys, and walk away.

I call ours a guard rooster! He crows and crows at anyone who comes in the yard and lets me know someone is there!
