My Impy was horribly rough with the girls and he started trying to mate at 2 weeks old.
He's gotten much better, but not only that....he's a very good roo about taking care of his girls. My favorite part about him is that he refuses to go into the coop at night until every single girl is in and settled. I felt bad last night. I tried to shoo him into the coop and he avoided it in every way possible. I couldn't figure out why he was being so difficult and was getting aggravated with him. It wasn't until I got him in the coop, closed the door and was doing a head count that I realized one of the SS was missing. Impy knew she wasn't in there and he didn't want to go in without her.
By the way, my Thor is huge - in the neighborhood of 13 lbs. and there is a bantam hen in his flock. She has never suffered an injury as a result of his size.
