Welcome to the flock. I didn't laugh at your story and I don't think you are stupid. You are learning something new, and paying attention to your chicks. Some people do not. It's good to be observant - being around the chicks often you will quickly learn what is normal for the group and when something seems off. Would love to see photos of your feathered kids.
