OH. MY. GOODNESS. *rant* NOW WITH HATCHES!!!

Hi, all, an update on the original topic - one more coturnix about to zip all the way around. Another one pipped and zipped but in trouble - tried to help him out a bit after that but the membrane bled a bit so I wrapped him in a warm cloth and put him back in to rest for a few hours. Then I will try again. After those two are resolved, as well as one other coturnix that is rocking, I will start to make my own pips into the button quail, as they are several days overdue. If any of them are still alive, I am betting that they are now too large to get out on their own.

Took out the remaining button eggs (there were 9). Five were infertile, one was stuck in shell due to low humidity, and the other one was fully grown with no known cause of death.

The four babies in the brooder are doing well. My incubator temp was spiking and dropping all over the place, so I had to bring the newest hatch out very early. He is the brooder with the other three and is quite content.

All but two were either infertile or dead in shell. The remaining two are wrapped in a warm cloth inside the 'bator - I will give them a few more hours before I start to go to work on the shell a bit. They both are breathing normally, from what I can see.

Congrats on all the babies!!

I figured a number of them would be infertile...it's the time of year, I guess. Out of the 22 coturnix eggs I have set I think 8 or 9 of them glow infertile when candled.

I can't wait to see pics of your newest additions! This has been a great story to follow.

It has definitely been eventful! It is all over now - we have five quail chicks total. 3 Coturnix and 2 button. The third Coturnix is drying off in the 'bator right now.

Yes... eventful. The last-hatched one just drowned himself in the water feeder. I had one less marble than I apparently needed.
