What is happening to me?

LOL - I had no idea how far down this chicken path I would go. Today, I went to Harbor Freight's Black Friday Spring sale and purchased a miter saw and table saw, so I could start building my own coops. I live within a mile of four Amish lumber mills, so that will help. At least the staff didn't laugh at the middle-aged women, who knew very little about woodworking, asking questions about power tools and chickens.

I'm going to start with A-frame tractors . . .

AWESOME!!!!! Good for you! I know how to use powertools, almlst evert single one, but never could I ever as a female, go in there without fear of being judged by "stronger men" who "know more about tools than me. Like, how could they know more when they don't even read the instructions? Anywho, I am so happy that you can build your own coops. Extra good that you have a mill nearby.

It did feel odd being in there. I did my research, but when I saw how huge the miter saw I intended to buy was, I back-pedaled and when with something more basic.

As far as being able to build my own coops . . well, I believe I can do it!

You can! I just built a coop for our ducks out of repurposed material (only had to pay for the hardware). It drove my husband nuts watching me because he said I didn’t have a plan. Well, I did, but it was in my head, and dependent upon how well stuff actually fit together 🤪🤣I felt quite accomplished and surprised with what came out of it.

Got ears, eyes protection? And Bandaids???
We're looking forward to your creations!

Yeah for power tools!

All the women in my family and my husband's family own their own tools -- my BIL jokes about having married a woman who owns more tools than he does (she's a former Air Force AGE mechanic).

My hands are too small to use most handheld tools, but I can use any of the table-mounted tools and the tile saw is mine, not his.

Got ears, eyes protection?

This is very important. They DO make safety equipment sized for women, though it can be harder to find.

Yes, I got eyewear and noise wear, too! I even remembered saw horses :)
