Oh. My.

I know that I inquired about having ducks along with a decent sized pond for gold fish. I was told that unless the pond was sizable, the ducks waste would contaminate the water and thus the fish would not survive. But given that areal shot, I would say that pond is definitely big enough.

Shy-have fun with the ducklings, they sure are cute and messy little buggers! I did notice you said you used cedar chips though, were you aware that the cedar is toxic to chickens? I think it's the smell that cedar gives off, that can hurt their respiratory system. Alot of people use pine shavings, or even Aspen, I believe if it is available. Just a heads up,

Morgaine, that's a good idea, I have a couple of those laying around here. I did try a cookie sheet (had an older one) after hearing someone say they used an old cake pan. I don't have an old cake pan, so thought I would try that, but it just wasn't deep enough to catch much water.

deeszoo, I remember reading about the wire, and was going to try and construct something....and you can see I didn't get that far,

Good luck with your hatch!

12 acres, what a beautiful pond! I wish we had a pond here. We do have a really wet area of our horse pasture, that I've thought about digging in, to contain some of the water that runs through the property. Have fun with the feather feets, lol! I'm getting some Salmon Favorelles in May....I feel a new addiction coming on
