Oh no!! Do only roosters fight like this? 5 and 6 weeks

Girls can and will fight. It’s a little early to tell sex and I’m not familiar with those specific breeds. Close ups of the face to show comb and waddle development and color are helpful.

Don’t lose hope yet. You could have 2 feisty girls.:fl

Fingers crossed! I wanted to sell eggs not have chicken fights

Thank you!

The red one looks like it has pointy feathers, and the short downward tail looks a little mysterious. S/he doesn't have an upright "V" tail and it's making me say it's a cockerel.

I am no-how a chicken gender specialist, so I could be wrong. I'd wait a few weeks to make sure <3.

It's kinda funny to look at the other chickens reactions in the pics! The java chick tries to intervene

They may not continue to fight if it is 2 boys. They like to mock fight and test their skills at this age. When the hormones show up they can get macho again but most settle down. I have 2 boys that get along pretty good. No knock out drag down cock fights but a little “don’t forget I’m in charge” scuffle from time to time. There is a pecking order they maintain. It shuffles from time to time but there is an order.

It is quite common for both sexes in a brooder to end up with a scalped noggin at around the 4 to 8 week stage. The mama hen in naturally hatched clutches seem to be oblivious to this behavior. Let your chickens be chickens and they will likely run together peacefully for a few more months or at least till sexual maturity rears its ugly head and will make them do it all over again only the next time with more passion and determination.

I was watching a girl fight the other day. Not sure what the problem was. But I swear one of the other girls was a referee. She’d get between the two then back off. It looked like she was keeping score. Then she went over and groomed who I thought lost. LOL

Yeah there's a lot more going on there than I noticed!

The first thing that happened was the grown hen walked near the fence and the Orloff flew up at the fence. Then when she came back down she and the ee got into it.

Good thing I was in National Geographic cameraman mode ....
