OH NO! eggs r here 5 DAYS TOO EARLY! what do i do??????

I was hopeing that they would get here this WED but they took 1 day to get to my house! they need to go in the bator on the 28th
so they can be a b-day gift. how do i store them???

Just a suggestion here... 5 day old chicks are still really cute sooo newly hatched or 5 days old i'd say i'd be excited for that as a gift!

I would just put them where they will be safe and not fall and break. I think in the cupboard for a few days will be ok.

I'd rather set them then let them age, but that is just me.

For the best hatch you want them stored in the 60s F, small end down, and tilt them a little to each side once or twice a day. I wouldn't store them 5 days. Maybe 2.. 3 max.. and then set them. They might even hatch a day late anyway. Then you'd have nothing for the person's birthday. 2-3 day old chicks would be better than none and the sooner you set them the more are likely to hatch.

Is the birthday person in your household? That might make it more difficult to keep it quiet if they hatch early.

No for a good or great hatch I would not put them in the fridge. There are people who have taken refridged eggs and hatched them but it's not a recommended way to store eggs for hatching.​

We are in the same boat! I was expecting them next week, so now I'm running around the house setting things up for a temporary bator!
