The broody bug is flying around! The chickens found a sneaky spot to lay eggs and I haven’t noticed. The hen that hatched out 9 last year is now sitting on 15 eggs! I already have another hen sitting on 6 expecting to hatch in a week. I take delivery of 20 chicks tomorrow... is this advanced chicken math????

The ones I’m receiving tomorrow I really want, they are Rhodes and Sussex. Maybe I’ll keep some chicks that look cool out of these hatching batches and sell the rest... maybe not lol

Congrats!

i keep track of egg production for my groups. It gives me clues as to what is happening when i am not there...

I knew production was low but I couldn’t find where they were stashing them. It caught my attention when I was walking by and I heard the typical broody bawking and hissing, behold

Go back to childhood and learn/relearn the joy/frustration of easter egg hunts!!!

i document the "time of year" too...and other things that affect egg counts, like the great snake scare of 2017!
