I was just informed on my hatch thread that I have to lock down my 5 D'Uccle eggs 2 days before the rest of my regular large size eggs, which are due to go on lockdown Friday morning! I don't have a spare incubator or hatcher! I have the items needed to build a bator but don't have the time to commit to the build until after the Easter holiday! Please help me and tell me what I need to do?

When I candled last night (day 14) it looked as thought the chicks had run out of room to grow in their shells (the D'Uccles)...I'm so worried now....I don't know what to do!!!!!!!

I have 5 D'Uccle, 6 black Austrolorp, 1 blue Americauna, and 1 Penedesenca...if I were to lock down tomorrow for the D'Uccles, would the others hatch prematurely, or would they hold off until their 21 days?

Will the higher humidity (I'm at 31% right now) effect the air cells too much? I'm just worried that if I go into lockdown two days early for the D'Uccles that I will lose the rest of my hatch :(

Ok...Thanks for the help...I'm so nervous...this is my first hatch!!

I can tell. ;) LOL.

The best thing you can do for your eggs is to stay calm. When people panic that's where mistakes happen. Keep your temperatures steady and your humidity up.
A few days before they hatch the eggs may rock or even cheep. Eventually they will pip. They will then breathe and finish absorbing the yolk and blood vessels. Sometimes they hatch within a few hours. Sometimes they may take 30+ hours. Never rush to help a chick. They know when they are ready. Hope this helps.

I have read and reread and reread again a thousand times the hatch 101, so I know what to expect...at least I feel I do. I just worry because those eggs are so much smaller...

I just hatched quail eggs for the first time! Talk about little eggs! Big or small so long as you are vigilant they should be fine. Sometimes chicks just aren't strong enough to make it to hatching. Just be emotionally prepared for that. Keep me updated!
