Well, managed to hatch out 10 more peeps (staggered - with 2 more peeps on the way) and sold them to a lady for 4-H...

Anyways, I've been waiting for a Silkie X Old English Game Bantam forever...

Hatched out and I don't think he/she is going to make it

Cutest thing... small like a button quail (colorations of an OEGB) but with 5 pinkie little furry toes... and grey beak... has a little more grey-black to him/her than regular OEGB chicks

Anyways, little thing no eating, no pooping and I'm scared to put him/her out

Should I wait or should I keep on fighting?
I think it's time to let go - he/she won't eat and with something so small, I don't think I can force feed without crushing a bone or breaking its neck or feet or legs or gosh!

Oh BOO! I just find it funny how I know the "Put it out of its misery" ordeal, but once in a blue, I turn into a baby and can't do it!

Some fail to thrive no matter what you do. You just have to hold your chin up and enjoy the ones that you still have. Makes losing one easier, for me anyway. Last fall I lost my favorite 5wk. old pullet when she flew across the coop, hit the wall, and broke her neck. She was suffering bad and I had no choice but to do the deed. I am not a bit ashamed to admit that I cried more than the DW did. It does hurt to lose animals that you care about.

I'm a newbie but so far we have brought 3 chicks back from the edge, one just today. With the very smallest ones I have my daughter (14 y.o. but very small) gently open their mouths so that I can get some sugar water and vitamins into them. There is no way I could do this alone, they are just too squirmy and my hands are just too big. The first 2 are doing fine and the 3rd is much better although not 100% as yet. I honestly didn't think he would last the day. (I think that he was injured due to rough handling by the salesperson when I bought him plus he appears to have another injury.)
