i have a broody hen with (i believe) fertilized eggs! she's outside, which i most certainly didn't encourage, but she's been missing, showing up occasionally for food and water and then vanishing again and then we found her in the garden in a really protected spot! we figure she's roughly two weeks along, and we plan on leaving her there, just because we're afraid she would stop if we moved her. she's very predator safe, though, and i can't wait til they (hopefully) hatch!

yay! acorn has currently hatched four little brahma/ausrolorp chicks! they are black with feathered feet. she's a really good mom!

You are so lucky! I've had my bantams try that, but forunately I always find the eggs. We have so many raccoons that the minute they would start the pip they would be history! I let mine hatch in the house. Makes it easy to candle & watch hatching...
