We just got our hens last week, and though some were laying before we got them, none are now. One of them happened to be so extremely loud that my hubby wanted to give her away, though. She does it every morning, and we panic about what the neighbors will think.
Well, I was reading over some other posts about what is squatting and what the egg song sounds like, so we'd know what to expect, and lo and behold Margaret has been singing it this whole time that we thought she was just a trouble maker! Problem is, there's no egg! She's the oldest of the bunch (we were told that she's about two years), so is it possible that she's tapering off as far as laying, yet still singing, or is something stopping her from laying? I don't get it. But after watching several youtube videos on the egg song, that is definitely what she does.
She is a Buff Orp, and has not laid since we brought her home a week ago. What gives?
