Hi De Ho.

I'm Kayleigh.

I'm an experienced gardener who is spanking brand new to chickens. I don't even have them yet.
Peeps arrive in April. I've just moved to a three acre property so the first thing I thought about
was chickens! Woo Hoo. Chickens! I've always wanted them.

I hoped for more of an assortment but my local farm supply spaces the different breeds of chicks
out too far apart and I was nervous about that but even more nervous about ordering them in
the mail so I am expecting Plymouth Rocks and Ameraucanas about two weeks apart. I have
the brooder all set up for their arrival in April and we are building a coop and run. I also wanted
Austrolorps and/or Copper Marans but the dates put me off since I am set up for only one
brooder. Maybe next year!

I spend most of my time gardening even in winter using a big hoop house and cold frames. I grow
most of our produce and now there will be eggs. Hubby is a bit nervous because he knows that if
I am successful with chickens, I'll want a goat. He's excited about building a coop though. Building
compost bins and raised beds got old for him.

True confession time. I ordered pullets but I am secretly hoping to get "stuck" with at least one roo.

Welcome to the CRAZY WORLD of CHICKENS!!

Thank you kindly for the warm welcomes. So many newbies. So much fun. I love messing
around on the web so I'm sure I'll be documenting my chicken adventure.
